  • Yeah Skully, go along and check out the main piece. No booking necessary although you may have to queue. If you can do it while most are tucked up in offices then the queue will be shorter. I won't ruin it but it's a massive immersive environment built into the main gallery space. They drip 5 people at a time into it through a Willy Wonka style Mike TV waiting room. Just as you're getting narked with the wait and considering leaving remind yourself that it's ten times better once in than it looks from the outside. You won't regret the trip I guarantee it.

Let me know what you think.

Sorry to jump in there MF - I suppose I'm quite enthusiastic about this particular show. You have to kiss a lot of commercial exhibition frogs to get an experience akin to that one!

  • Oooh. I like the Gagosian. Went to the excellent Richard Serra there a couple of years ago.

Will try to take the kids up to this before it ends.

    Cheers Jason.

  • youre most welcome everyone, I will be visiting again tommorrow afternoon, are you free Skully about 3?

  • @Wrongcog
Thanks. I actually missed your response somehow, after i wrote that^^^^ I just upped and went out, with my flask full of warming broth and a swig of brandy in my pocket.

It was wonderful. Tranquil. Mind infesting. Quite disconcerting when there were no people in my field of vision. Then as soon as someone stepped into view my senses became suddenly extrememly lucid and full of perpective, having the moment before been really fuzzed and (literally) tripping. It was amazing.

Do it Ru! It's ace. There was a tiny baby in there when I went, who gurgled approvingly as they arrived, then was transfixed and peaceful. Then seemed rather dissapointed to be leaving.

I wonder if you made it London today!? If you read this, come and stay if you;re stuck - the East London Line is working OK so far.

  • caught this this afternoon...well worth checking although advise getting there early to avoid queues

    Sooooo true.

I'm wondering if next time we find a really really good show around London we could do a short n' simple ride out to it - taking the art virgin's and stopping off for a pint afterwards..... the ride being incidental to the art as it were.

Saw the Anish K. in KPG y'day again, the 'big (silver) dish' by the water's edge is amazing with the snow... so amazing that I slipped over on the ice I got so excited and ended up in a heap on the ground... not clever!

  • Bagheera I was thinking the same thing. A sort of social ride with art at the breaks followed by a discussion over a beer. I'd love it as art's my specialist subject so I'd have something to offer in that regards but I'm a rookie on all things bike so it would give me a chance to contribute.

    yes we went there too,
the #2 piece is cool, as it inverts what we are percieving,
so confusing the brain to look at the reflection the way we actually do see everything before its turned the 'right' way up.

    second visit to J.T,
wondered this time how would Dhatu be for colurblind viewers? the red sequence was so intense this time.
strangely we were timed this time, I expect the staff are tired!

    keep posting r.e art rides

  • The Turrell show at Pace Gallery in the RA building closes on the 5th of April.

    Would recommend.

(Also, remember to bring some pepperspray for the cunts who ruin the works by talking loudly.)
