hmm may be usless info -
I have a 700 screw on rear wheel with disc mounting on it (- the disc is now on a new cassette wheel).
The wheel currently has a 6 speed screw on block on it, but that can come off, a fixed sprocket would fit on there, and be locked on by a bottom bracket lock ring- not exactly kosher but.....
There's little difference in height in 650 MTB wheel with fat tyres and a 700 with eg 23 or 25's and discs make it possible to use 700 easily.
Other than that its lace a fixed hub into an MTB rim, but fixed and disc hub may cost.
PM if interested in wheel.

Yeah, been looking at some on the random cycle sites and its looking like it's going to be around 90 -120 quids for something half decent, I do want to try and stick with the MTB rims etc as I'm kinda intending to throw it around a bit also want a suspension fork for the front and want to stick with 650 there too.
Thanks for the advice though, it may yet come to that,
Cheers,
D

loads of MTB wheels around, but fewer with disc mounting, and hen's teeth job with fixed capability
single free is an easy possibility on a cassette hub with disc mounting though

Think I will probably end up with something like

Unless anyone else can suggest something better / cheaper / secondhand etc

^ Thanks, seems they use the disc mount to secure the cog, rather than leaving it free to use the disc brake also, which is what im after hopefully :) thanks for the info though, looks like a good site!

As it say on the tin really, want to put together a fixed MTB for dashing round boldly in the rain, possibly to have disc brake depending if people think that's a) possible b)sensible !
Any advice or ideas where I can get such would be great,
Cheers,
David
