    Mountain stage profiles

Changes to KOM and Green jersey points, no prologue, possible 8 sprint finishes and Wiggins probably hasn't got a hope again... ;)

  • shame there is no grand depart in another country, just a quick dash into Italy.
TTT is back though so maybe wiggo or millar can get a stage.
no lance and will cuntador be racing?

  • Given the race is celebrating the 100th anniversary of visiting the Alps, I have to say I'm very disappointed at how few stages they have there and how tame they are.

I'm a bit 'meh' about the route in general.

  • Goes right by my Mrs parents house in in Normandy - ringside seats for me!

  • Any body organiseing a trip ??????

    Did he ever?

No disrespect to Brad, he is a marvelous athlete. But he couldn't even win the T.O.B never mind the T.D.F.

You may now all begin discussing doping in the pro tour.

  • I think there is going to be doping. And stuff.

They all cheat blah blah blah.

  • These TDF threads are like Christmas for shops. It's only October man, there's a whole winter of shit to ride through yet. :)

  • great success.....3 stages go near enough to gf's parents house in the pyrenees

no col d'aspin though which is a shame - v pretty ascent

  • Did he ever?

No disrespect to Brad, he is a marvelous athlete. But he couldn't even win the T.O.B never mind the T.D.F.

Try to remember that he did manage to come in fourth two years ago. I think that anyone that gets that close, that recently, stands a chance of winning it. Obviously the team, training and opportunities have to be right, but I think it's a little presumptive to write him off at this point.

I have a feeling that his performance in 2011 will be better than this year though. Whether he'll get to the podium is a different matter though, there's going to be a lot more people contending the GC than last year, which may well work in his favour.

  • If the top 10 are stopped from riding because of drug offences, Wiggo might stand a chance.

  • Has he ever even said he fancied his chances of winning? or is this like England winning the world cup where the fans dictate what the target should be?

I was specifically talking about 2010/11 who knows what the future brings...

  • Not sure about winning but I'm pretty sure he talked about aiming for a podium place.

He says here he's trying.. but who knows for 2011
    news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/cycling/8546232.stm

Doesn't say what he's aiming for but it's clear he still wants to see what he can do in Le Tour

  • So who's seen the route? Thoughts?

Was speaking to a colleague about the etape this year and said she was quite disappointed. A long road section with no famous climbs, then a week later a short route with big climbs. Hard to do both a week apart...

  • bring on that spotted jersey!

  • Sparky you need to pay more attention to the "your thread might already exist" list that pops up when you create a new thread.

  • bring on that spotted jersey!

You need to learn how to climb first. ;)

  • Nice scenic side up the Tourmalet. Something for the sprinters to take their mind off things, at least...

I'm looking forward to stage 14 - some punchy climbs there.

  • Anyone feel like riding it rather than watching it?

journalist reading around the subject and doing basic research?

  • Having seen the route for the Giro in 2011, that will be the GT of the year.

    Same as this year then!

I bet Sparky comes here to unwind, not to work. :)
