1044 were never steel AFAIK.

Well Velobase Lists one that's Steel up to 1960,after upgraded to alloy
Although not 1044 Which yes your right were alloy
So if anyone has an alloy Seat post give us a shout
2 bolt preferably

I had a steel one. Unfortunately this only confirms its existence, because i sold it.
I still have a twin bolt alloy one, probably 1970s if that would do?
