  • Looks regular shit from this angle tho'. Rear track nowhere near wide enough for the body.

  • Hop Upppppppppp!!!!

  • Rear track is fine, rear tyres need to be TWICE as wide for authenticity!

  • One bolt away from finishing the Sand Viper. You'd think the right bolt would come with the servo, as Tamiya servo savers are pretty common in the rc car world.

  • My egress kit had a screw specific to my servo type; the bolt included in the servo was too short.

  • Yeah, got screws for plastic gear servos, but the Core I've got is metal geared, came with two bolts/screws both the same length, so both too short. Gonna nip to local engineering supplies shop tomorrow, hopefully they'll have summat.

  • 50p for 10 stainless 10mm screws, all is well in the world. Called in the local Aldi to get pizza on the way back, £7.99 for digital calipers, rude not to. Batteries charging, off to find some open space, without kerbs! Will report back after test runs, on what's broken.
Thanks chiefly to @Howard and @Matisse for reigniting the fire, I'm sure my bank balance will thank you too.

  • I apologise to your wallet :)

  • No worries.
That was fun, slightly cracked wing is the only damage, along with scratched paint on the wing (will run it til it's fooked, then get a new wing but not bother painting it).
Got 1hr on longish grass, slightly muddy ground, out of 2 4000mah 2s LiPo batteries (one not quite fully charged). Bloody quick, needs spike front tyres, but handles rather well, when not wheelieing.

  • I regret nothing

  • Can recommend Schumacher mini spikes for grass, also ball diff for wheelies.

  • Yeah, ordered some Schumacher tyres yesterday. Not gonna spend on hop ups/upgrades on this, would rather put the money towards a second buggy.

  • Am I right in thinking if the chassis is the same, the only difference between kits is the shell?
Like the TT02b Neo Scorcher is the same as a Plasma Edge 2, aside from the body shell?
(And colour of the wheels/ shocks, etc)

So if I bought an NS, I could at a later date buy a PE2 body shell and just attach that?

  • I would think so, they use the same chassis, so yes, like the dt02s are all compatible, just shells n maybe shell mount struts differ.

  • Uh oh.....

  • Formidable. 😎

  • Did you get the shiny bits with it?

Hopefully didn't come with any unwanted stowaways.

  • On the way....:)

And so far, no unwanted guests, let’s hope it stays that way

  • Nice. Hop ups, shocks, anything else?

  • Shocks, new diffs, turnbuckles, bearings, 13.5t brushless, steel hex screw set, plastic and speed tuned gear set, torque splitter, think that’s all of it.

  • Ah, so a chassis away from another buggy, plenty to go in the spares box though.
Considering a 2nd buggy, because, well you know, just because. Thoughts please, I prefer 2wd (even when I raced my Cat years ago, I ended up taking the belt n front drive shafts out and running it 2wd), options so far:

    1. Tamiya Super Astute, one of the finest looking buggies ever built, a step up from the very plastic cheaper Tamiyas, can run my 2s LiPo batteries
    2. Schumacher Top Cat, ugly as fook shell, but Schumy quality, with the diff upgrade comes in £30 more than the SA, again can use my LiPo batteries
      And the extreme end
    3. Schumacher Cougar KD, race proven, Schumy quality, modern buggy styling, would need shorty batteries
There's a price range of £200-£260, excluding any other expenses (batteries, brushless, esc, servo, which I would get regardless).
Is the SA much tougher than cheaper Tamiya? Is the Cougar too much buggy? Can I live with the Top Cat shell?
      Thoughts gentlemen please.
  • Super Astute is pretty tough and pretty simple and the gearbox is good.
