This week's fixtures & results League III (winter 2010/2011)

There are a lot of teams you have yet to play *any *games. We are 2/3rds of the way through the play off period now but only around 1/4 of the games have been played.

It would suck if loads of games ended up being forfeited, come on teams!

i think (at least for the bottom group) we will have to extend that, unless people have any objection. This weekend is the euro qualifiers, and then next weekend is easter, so it's going to be hard to get all those games done in the next two weeks.

It's good for the top teams to be done, so they can concentrate on tournaments, but I can't see any harm in the bottom group playing for another month. But whatever people think is best really...

It has everything to do with commiting to the league and respecting the deadlines so that the league doesn't drag on all year. Not playing any games in 4 weeks is pretty lame and as far as I'm aware no teams (other than Brendos) have badly injured players or any real reason for these game not to have happened.

Does that make Degeneration the strongest team in London Bike Polo? Seeing as we finished all our fixtures first out of everyone in the league & everything?

Well, it's not just the Euros, but by their nature the top teams are likely to be playing in more tournaments than the bottom teams, so you can understand enforcing a deadline.

And you are quite right, we've got no excuse for not playing, but it is what it is, we've tried to arrange fixtures, and it's not happened. But what's the value in almost every game in the bottom group being forfeited? What's the harm in us playing league games next month, if that's what we want to do, it doesn't affect anyone else.

I'm only speaking for myself at this point, but it seems a fairly logical step, if we are still in this situation in 2 weeks?

Would the bottom bracket teams be up for a mega day of games on saturday or sunday at mitch or downham? Have a BBQ and make a day of it...if on saturday it could be a fun alternative to the euros for us that arent involved and then we can make sure all our games are done by the deadline....

An ideal solution. There is little value in mass forfeits, but this games not only ought to be played, but, if the games that Degen have played are anything to go by, they will be a lot of fun. Triple headers, quadruple headers - brilliant. And excellent team practise for Brighton, the National Series...

Agreed. It's also about the principle of it, think of the children*.

*For example do we still force forfeits in the top group if the lower groups get an extension, etc? Shall we just abandon league deadlines?

(I reckon you can apply for an extension via the forfeit committee as normal, the whole of the bottom group could agree on a new date to give it some gravitas maybe?)

Although I agree that loads of forfeits would suck no one has been duped or picked on here. This league format means that everyone still has something to fight for, even though you can only come 13th at best do you not want to be top of the 3rd group?

No idea Ed, I'm still really up for it (as I'm sure Felix will agree with all the shit talking from me), it's just been really hard to get teams together.

Hopefully it won't be an issue, and in the next few days we can get a load of games done.
