  • What is the sizing like on these jerseys? I wear a large Rapha long sleeve one. Also I contacted the person and he says 5% discount on 20jerseys if anyone is interested. So far I have 3 people so that probably is not happening any time soon

  • I've a large long sleeved jersey and it is similar in size to the Rapha equivalent. The only issue, and this is one of my pet hates when it comes to cycle clothing, is that the arms are a bit short.

You'd have thought that clothing manufacturers would've worked out by now that it makes sense to make the arms a bit long to allow for the extension of the arms when cycling.

  • I find the sleeves fine, it sounds like your bike must be too long. have you considered a bike fit?

  • Me earlier.

  • The new T5s seem to be a little larger than the Rapha fit. This made me a medium, which is a good thing. No sleeve issues for me.

  • The new guys at Torm have asked if we want to put some of the new items through their paces.

So I'm looking for someone who can do a review.

    I'll give preference to:

    • Someone riding at the moment
    • Someone who will do the review
    • Someone who can me to a review of anything that they've already done
    • Someone who owns other jerseys and can compare and contrast fairly

    Any takers?

  • Would be happy to test some out.
I'm riding at the moment, will do the review and currently own torm jerseys and arm warmers.

  • Cool, you've got it... what size are you, and could you PM me your address.

  • .

  • PM sent

  • Bloody hell, laner I thought you were first, but apparently not... ShannonBall PM'd me before you'd replied, and I lazily hadn't checked.

They've got 2 sets coming in, and have agreed to split the work, so... ShannonBall gets the first, and then laner in about a month you get the next set.

ShannonBall, I have your sizes from the PM, but not your address, could you send that to me?

  • Any info on the new stuff coming out? Any plans for bibshorts or shorts in general or are they staying focused on Jersey's etc

  • I'm not sure what comprises a 'set', ShannonBall will be the first to be able to tell us when he receives it.

  • I'll happily write a review, should anyone back out.

  • He's got a valid point. I'm sure the Torn stuff is great but they've performed a wholesale rip off of the Rapha look, which Luke designed in the first place.

Why couldn't they come up with their own look?

I don't think he does, really. There's only so many ways you can drape fabric over a body. The fashion industry is driven to innovate by the unenforceability of copyright in it (except in the case of logos) and that is one of the things which keeps it vibrant and interesting. One the one hand you have firms that use logos splashed over everything to help discourage and/or identify copying, and copying those elements is properly breaking copyright. But at the other end, Louboutin (rightly in my opinion) failed to sue other shoe designers for using red soles - because it's not like painting soles red is a significant innovation in the development of shoes, it doesn't require large capital outlay to develop (thus requiring the value of that capital to be protected), no does it significantly alter the characteristics of the shoe - even if it is the single reason that loads of people buy his shoes. By similar logic, if the qualities of the jerseys are similar, I'd choose Torm because the main benefit of choosing Rapha over Torm in a world where both exist, is to be visibly spunking cash everywhere. I'd have to prove that Torm was technically an inferior good to rationally choose Rapha.

That said, there will be qualities which vary in value from individual to individual. I tend to wear earthy tones by preference so that quality would be worth a significant premium to me, all other things being equal.

    Blah blah blah, I'm wittering.

  • I have both. I like both, but I'd not pay full price for Rapha. That said, I've never had any quality issue with Torm, yet I've had quality problems with Rapha (and so have others... see that thread).

    So $$$ != quality :)

  • Woah, that's a dredge and a half.

  • It's a troll!!

  • Oh well, there goes the neighbourhood.

  • Why do they have to use fabrics ?!

  • Actually I've yet to see a cycle company using 100% recycled materials. It's currently the big thing in Snowboarding wear

  • ohhh snap

  • Rapha 100% recycled the St Raphael design - Does that count?

They only used 50% of it though

  • Sorry everyone, I'll check the date on posts in future.

  • I'm not sure what comprises a 'set', ShannonBall will be the first to be able to tell us when he receives it.

A set comprises a short sleeve jersey and arm warmers. I need to do one or two more rides and a few machine washes before I report back on them.
