Yeah polo is a definate. As it is on the old Bowthorpe School site, they have plenty of basketball/ 5-a-side courts!
All of the things that are going on, should be awesome!

He told me about that, but it was a mere idea at the time. Definitely going ahead with it then? Good stuff if so.

Gentlemen,
I have just found this post by accident during a google search, so I've ended up registering to add a reply.
The board of NELM trustees have just this morning informed me that the NELM Community Gala & Norwich Bicycle show has been approved and can go ahead.
It is now down to the cycling community to help and support me to make this a successful event.
The Dates are 18th & 19th of June 2011, the location is the NELM community area and Henderson Business Centre Ivy Road Norwich, NR5 8BF (check it out on google earth).
3.5 acres of the playing fields, including the running track, BMX park, Multi use sports courts, and the tarmac pathway have been assigned for cycling and HPV activities.
Already on-board are: The Norwich Cycling Campaign, Norfolk CTC, Norwich Cycle Speedway Club, BPRA, Norwich Scouts, Cycle Magic, Norwich Bicycle Paramedics, Sustrans, etc.
Suggestions and support, etc. would be most welcome. Bicyle Polo sounds awesome!
I can be contacted on 01603 622954, or alternatively if you are in the area drop into the workshop for a cuppa: I don't need an excuse to put the kettle on.
Regards
Gareth

I have spoken with the management of NELM today, and we would like to invite at least two Bicycle Polo teams to attend the show, and put on a demonstration of this sport on the MUGA: multi use games area.
Sparky, could you ring me please .... .... I have mislaid the piece of paper that you wrote your contact details on.
Regards
Gareth.

I was speaking to Becky this week as well, the girl I told you about. She said she'd be happy to run a small polo tournament on the day if you're interested. You can get me on 07974 918855.

This is the NELM MUGA; would it be suitable for Bicycle Polo?

I know the person that runs all the out door stuff at Norwich College (including mountain biking), I'll send him a link to this page. He's well into bikes (did the Dusk til dawn thetford foredt thing) so i'm sure he'll be interested.

That would be ideal for bike polo - absolutely spot-on.

BTW guys, NELM have said that if a Bicycle Polo team would like to use the MUGA (floodlit) and other facilities FOC as a "home ground" for practice sessions and league matches, etc then they would be welcome to.

I'd popped a mention of this in the polo thread. Trying to round up some players for a game this week.

I've just come back from having a cup of coffee with Gareth at Cargo Cycles in Norwich. From a little workshop in the city he's making all sorts of mad contraptions; bike trailers, cargo bikes, large electric-assist pedal vans, husky sleds and loads of other stuff that's secret/prototype/bizarre.
He told me that he's organising a bicycle gala next summer in June, and he's looking for shops and organisations to lay on stalls or events. So far there's a few local bike shops, some trick bikes, a hill race and a pedal car endurance event. Basically if it's human-powered, it'll be there. If anyone's interested in getting involved, I have his details - I'll ask him whether it's OK to post them here as well.
Get involved...
