  • If the gears are noisy at one end of the cassette, you may have a bent derailleur drop out. It's worth getting that checked out at your LBS unless anyone on the forum has the right tool (drop out alignment tool) for it. It's a 5 minute job, tops, once the bike is in the stand. Ever since I got one of those tools, I've found that most bikes have bent dropouts and straightening them has always made significant improvements to the gear changing.

  • A question about chainsets rather than cassettes:

    Any reason why I couldn't use a campag compact UT chainset with an ultegra 6700 groupset?

    Apart from the horrendous aesthetics!
