  • Cool, why didn't you take the "ultra light" spok-version? Your kids would have had forever lasting schoolyard rep

  • Can get a second hand Nihola, which is built in Denmark, rather then China, for £1500..

    just sayin..

  • I think thats why he said "open to offers" ...just sayin

  • haha, fair enough.

  • Christiania is far better than Nihola.
Apart from the handling in tight spaces (the Christiania moves the whole box, and it's a lot easier to turn 180°), the riding position of the Nihola is awful, the seat tube is far too vertical.
Plus they're over-complicated for the steering mechanism and the box is damn small, even if the whole lenght is pretty much the same as a Christiania.

Oh, and Christiania's are NOT made in China, and Lars is such a nice guy to deal with.
Needless to say, go for it and live happy forever :)

  • I read in Velovision that Chrisitanas are now being built in China, about 18 months ago. It could be that they make some still in Denmark, but I think the majority of their bikes are Chinese built.

The quality of the components on the Nihola is better then the Christiana, which is why in Denmark people choose them over Christianas. something like 2% of all Danes own a Nihola.

However I'm sure that Christianas handle better.

  • It could be that the main frame is pre-done in China, however the bikes are still made in Copenhagen.
As three years ago, it was almost all made there, TBH they said they could get better stuff from far east, in fact some of the covers came from there and they were much better than the early ones made in Europe... :\
As far as the components, I don't see anything better on Nihola's.... what is better? The cheapy-crappy plastic mudguards (Christiania has stainless steel)? The horrible Sram 5 or 7 speed (Christiania uses Nexus)? The crappy tyres (Christiania has Marathons)? The box made out of acrylic sheets (Christiania is made of Marine Pywood)?

BTW, I do not work for trikes sellers/manufacturers! ;) I've just been working on lots of them, and I saw what's good and what's not :)

  • I know SRAMs for bed wetters, but their hub gears are pretty good and the drum brakes on the Nihola are reliable and easy to maintain. I agree that the mudguards and box is much more stylish on the Christiana though.

I have also worked on both of them and find that Christianas aren't as tough and durable as Niholas.

  • @dpres - that's fair enough. i don't expect to get £1,500 for it to be honest. This will suit someone who was thinking of getting a new one anyway would rather a nearly new for a big discount. I haven't ridden a Nihola but Christiania's are very good to ride around town and surprisingly robust.

Also the warrantee on it is very good - we had a few bubbles on the paint and they are replacing the entire box !

    cheers
