Recommend me a bike please!

Hi guys and gals

Hoping someone might be able to help me out. Looking for a fixie (my first!), and want to get it on Cycle to Work - my company uses Halfords.

First & second choices (Bianchi Pista Via Condotti & a Viva one) are no go's, as crappy Halfords don't have supply agreements with them. Not happy :-(

Basically the more retro the better, ideally no rear brake (though I can always remove this myself), max £1,000, and that supply Halfords.

I've already bought 2 bike in the past 2 years and managed to get neither through our Cycle to Work scheme so far (first one I hadn't been at company long enough, second was too expensive!). Annoying, as I actually plan to use this for what the scheme's intended for (rather than half the people who use it to buy a Boardman bike to use occasionally at the weekend!!)

So, any recommendations much appreciated.

ask halfords. they will probably know their stock levels and supply contracts better than most people on here.

Are you sure you can't get the Via Condotti? Find an independant shop that sells Bianchi and ask them if they can redeem Halfords vouchers (the shop where I work does but we don't sell this brand). Bear in mind that Halfords's fee (for the shop) is twice Cyclescheme's, so most places wil be reluctant to do this.

Neil i believe you can get Condors through Halfords? i'd recommend one.

Phone Halfords... they have a large list of bikes that they can get on a "for order" basis. They only push their brands strongly, and then their imports strongly as from both of those they get higher margins on the bikes as well as the scheme itself. But they don't want to lose a sale and are prepared to order most things... so make a 1st and 2nd choice from the OTP threads and then give them a call Monday morning and see which one they'll order in for you.

Look in the STEEL OTP thread. Then ask if they can special order, as has been recommended above.
