you might be able to wet and dry it, but don't take it down to the weave.
then find a suitable matt laquer for carbon -

Just to be more clear. All you should have to do is scuff up the surface of your gloss lacquer to a matt with 0000 wire wool. No re-spraying.

Ok so basically.....
1) buy the 0000 wire wool
2) scrub against the rim (no water?) till matte
3) then no clear coat.Am i right jammy?

No water, small circular motions to avoid "patterned" or streaked look. No clear coat required as all you've done is matt-up the surface of the current, glossy lacquer.
This is the method I've used on guitars to remove the gloss from necks and other bits.

I'd like to strip the paint of my Mash forks to show the original carbon. How do i go about doing this?
-
• #15
fine sandpaper/wet and dry
then re-laquer -
• #16
or buy a set of carbon forks that aren't painted.
-
• #17
Boil the forks in a 50/50 nitromors/vinegar mix until they are soft like a pair of over cooked courgettes and then peel by hand.

Or buy a set of carbon forks that are painted and swap them for a set of carbon forks that aren't painted.

Hey there, I bought this 60mm glossy rim off my mate last week. When i look at my bike set up, i prefer to have the all matte finish so it matches with my sandblasted titanium frame. So any advise to get rid of the gloss finish on it safely?
Any advise would be highly appreciated !
Cheers boys!
