is there a support vehicle for the boris bike? Econo mentioned it to me.. i'm gutted to be in cast. Happy to be sandwich maker, coffee pourer and bbq setter upper for the beach in the support vehicle if there is one?
generally the support vehicle isnt just for the boris bike its for everyone but as econodog has a seat on the coach ill be supporting him..I hadnt thought about taking a support for the support but its actually not a bad idea. if i remember correctly though shoosh wanted to be involved. ill have to read back and find out...
maybe someone already mentioned it but did you think whether barclays would be interested in giving your charity some money in return for some good pr?
this is a great idea...hmmm...lets make it happen!

Oh that's fine, there's no point launching into it too quickly. I'm starting training tonight, I've got a 3/4 mile spin down to the prince regent in Brixton. Then Later I'm gonna ride back again.
Gotta focus, gotta be strong.and always rememeber...
NO LEANING!

Isn't it Walk To the Pub From Work Week?

Since my girlfriend moved out and took all the furniture, I am able to ride in small circles round my front room, so come rain, hail, fog or snow, I have NO EXCUSE not to train. just completed 4 laps at an av. speed of just under 4mph. Going for a massage now.

Not this week. But those do happen quite regularly in my workplace.

LOL, this has to be one of the most pathetic images ever to have graced this forum

i have to be in Warwick for 10:30 on 17th so I am out and my place on the coach is available. not sure what the procedure is?
-
• #639
you set a series of challenges to test strength, resourcefulness and reason and the victor gets your place on the coach i would have thought.
-
• #640
^not this...As per david, tickets are non refundable e.t.c.
probably keep the spare seat on the coach free for any emergencies/extras on the night.
the logistics of being involved in the helping out on the night are slowly dawning on me.

i'm happy to help out - what do you need people to do?
-
• #642
Ride to dunwich without any mechanicals or injuries. follow the red lights. enjoy the beach with a bit of brekkie. sleep in the coach on the way home.
I think we will have everything else covered.
-
• #643
Can I have a spare bike and spare wheels following 10m behind me for the journey in case of mechanicals please? (until I get tired, then I'd like you in front so I can draft.)
thanks! -
• #644

Don't get it twisted, but I think it's a really stupid idea to ride a rental bike anywhere outside of 2nd zone. If you get a puncture - you can't do shit: can't unscrew the valve caps, can't remove the wheel, can't unscrew /remove anything, unless you've got a special tool. And don't forget the tyres aren't puncture-proof, they're really thick Kendas. So that means in case of any technical it's a walking time to the nearest train stop. Anyway if you decide to go ahead with that insane mission - I wish you good luck, you gonna need it.
Just got an idea - if you get a puncture, just remove/cut/rip out the inner tube and stuff the tyre with lots of hay. It might work...

thanks dimi. agree with you on every point.
committed now though. so will if anything bad happens i'll have to improvise.
nothing ventured, nothing gained right?

^^ can't unscrew the valve caps? So how do they pump up the tyres? I haven't looked that closely at them and assumed you could just get an aerosol of that gunk stuff to seal/inflate. If not, I guess you could just ride on the rims, just...
DON'T LEAN

Of course it's a stupid idea, that's why he's doing it. The whole DD is a bit of a stupid idea, anyone in their right mind would be tucked up in bed with a mug of Horlicks and a copy of Razzle instead of slogging their way to a beach made of stones with a nice view of a nuclear power station.
Now, any danger of any of those "special tools" miraculously finding it's way onto the support vehicle?
