The Oak belongs to Ed.

Edit - wot he said ^

Thought it may be Eds, due to saddle angle ( I know, that's how you have brooks) and GB tyres. Oh, and the pink shoes.

It's nice seeing 2x Le Creuset pots in "functional" as well. Good work.

• #5509
Yeh, I noticed them, who really needs 2 casserole dishes though?
-

Electric hob? I'm not having that.
I've been wondering Ed, I don;t know you at all but how often do you use the Oak? What sort of riding does it see? Is it specifically for audaxing or what? I notice you're getting an Elephant in CP and I'm just wondering about the intended uses of your bikes etc...
Sorry for being nosey.

Ideal number of le cruesset pans, n+1?
-
• #5512
Well, one for work, one for best, one to get muddy, one as a spare, one to buy and immediately try to sell...............

I ride it all the time since I got it, I got so used to the low trail geometry that normal road bike feel like crap to ride, it's my sunday best/everyday bike.

.I loved my Genesis CdF, great fun on the canal towpath and tough for touring, but it ride nowhere like the Oak so I never enjoyed it.
Hence the Elephant, a tough CX/touring bike to replaced my Genesis but with similar geometry to the Oak.

Thanks! So do you commute on the Oak?
-
• #5515
Always, it's a custom bike, you'd want to ride it all the time, rather than do a sumo.

• #5516
Nice removal of a post, up page, Posi. Same can be said of bikes and pans. One for.............

This is true, to a point.
I want to ride my Geekhouse all the time, but have no secure bike lock at work- not even a covered one...
Hence using the Caad5 for commuting, even though that makes no sense. -

Can understand that, I guess the advantage of being a retrogrouch is that it made my bike less desirable, to the average punters, it's just another old bike that have been well looked after.
The Elephant will be the opposite (ahead stem, disc, usb dynamo), but will get abused a lots.

Speaking of modern 650b, since I can't get a Kinesis Tripster I've ordered a Surly Straggler frameset, some (MTB) wheels and Grand Bois tyres (Lierre). The groupset will be a mix of Ultegra and 105, which I already have. Finishing kit to be finalised, the one thing I should really start thinking about are the brakes.

TRP Spyres and compressionless (Yokozuna Reaction is my recommendation).
-
• #5521
More important than braking - pink or black?
-
• #5522
Black. I like the Unicorn Stew colour but maybe not with tan wall tyres...
-
• #5523
Lolo that sounds pretty neat. Can't wait to see it.
