  • Thanks Aido. Will buy you beer.

  • I bet Joe nicked all the good bits off the Archie didn't he? Those brakes used to stop on a dime*.

    *Maybe.

  • You know what? I put a saddle, some bars and a set of wheels on it... You could've ridden home on it*...

    • If you were a mental...
  • [pros tip]Did you grease the pads to stop the brakes squeaking?[/pros tip]

  • Ha, did you learn that after the London Open?

They're worn down, I reckon new ones will do the job.

  • [pros tip]Did you grease the pads to stop the brakes squeaking?[/pros tip]

    ha!

  • Would ed's bike not make a good loaner?

And in case you care I go along with rik, you did all the work it's up to you what you do with the the loaner.

  • keep my wheel or freecycle it, or smash it
its not even worth trying to bring it home

  • what's wrong / right with it?

  • its a unipack wheel

  • I'm with Rik on this one. Sorry, I know how much effort, time and money Joni has put into this bike, and the Archie is by no means a bad, or dangerous, polobike. I really don't have a problem with Margs using it and donating the Archie to loaner polo instead.

Bare in mind Joni has built this, and is storing it, and ghosts it to and from every match. As far as I'm concerned she already does too much for Beginners Polo.

  • is it out of true or anything?

  • no, lockring thread on the fixed side is threaded but the freewheel is fine, or was last time i saw it, its not even worth trying to carry it 15 odd miles home

  • I might take it off your / her hands then if it is not being used. If its lying idle.

  • go for it, i have another unipack rear wheel at home as well, if you want two
im some sort of shit bike magnet

  • So what is the status of this? We used to have two loaner bikes, right? Do we still have them?

In any case, I have two frames to donate: one Archie speeway frame and my old prototype Archie polo bike. The latter is long and super unstable, but it should work for a loaner I reckon. I've been riding it for a few years.

With the prototype frame I can give forks, headset, stem, bars. Maybe some other stuff. Would anyone be interested in building this/these up? Do we have a place to store them?

  • The archie speedway is it like iains old black one? And jb and JOno? I will give you (or LHBPA) some money for it. I am building a bike for a friend. if it fits anyhow.

  • Yeah, it's like Iain's black one but a bit bigger than that and the other standard ones. Can't remember the size, but I'm 6' and it fits me well. I'd like to see if anyone wants to rebuild it for a polo loaner first, but if not you can have it for a donation to the LHBPA.

  • Maybe ask Fuchsia about who might be interested in storing it.

I'd be keen on helping with the build alright, but cant store.

  • Temporarily I can store a loaner in my garage in Bermondsey - it's only about ten mins from Newt, but would be too far for me to ghost it all the way to London Fields. Plus cos of my lefty bike I'd have to ride on the scary side. I'll ask around the beginners and see if any of them are interested - or actually, I wonder if Rich could keep it at Druid Cycles?

  • it's better if a player takes it. a regular player.

  • Rich is a regular player on Tuesday nights

  • I have a 48h rear wheel that needs some work but is free to whoever wants to build up a loaner

  • it's better if a player takes it. a regular player.

Rich came to souths on Monday... Pretty good...

  • *He would be better freewheel ;-) *

all the more reason to give him the loaner...
