Big dick = higher weight = lower W/kg.
It's a burden I'm prepared to live with.
-
• #3128
Who only measures w/kg to a single decimal point?
#4.56
-
• #3129
My highest test this year was 3.6 w/kg, must try harder!

Who doesn’t round up to the nearest whole number. And rounding up from .1 up. ;)
-
• #3131
These numbers are mind boggling. He finished a lap behind the winners too.

I've got an hour tomorrow morning, a Wahoo Kickr and a laptop.
How do I do a virtual Alpe d'Huez or something for no money? There must be a trial for some kind of video trainer thing knocking around right?

Give this a go

Thanks! Looks ideal.

Rode up an Austrian mountain this morning. Pretty cool!
Couple of things - make sure you adjust your bike and body weight, I was dying for the first few mins because the computer thought I had 25kg of bananas in my jersey pockets.
It’s not Erg mode, you change gear like normal.
1hr at FTP, fasted, straight out of bed is not as manageable as intervals.
-
• #3136
Yep, I've only done one test ride on it so far, but plan to use it for long steady sessions over the winter. I rode the Madelaine, which I did IRL earlier this year, and it was good to see bits I remember.

Suggests you need to retest. Even Wiggins wasn't sure he could do his FTP for the hour record and shot just below.
-
• #3138
Yeah, I mean you can aim for 1hr at FTP but if you actually hit it... fasted... on a turbo... ding ding ding!
-
• #3139
Actually vastly exaggerating. 241w for 47:20. FTP is 287w.
BigRingVR seems ideal for winter “base miles” or more interesting long sweet spot stuff. To be honest I was mostly just looking at the data anyway but it definitely adds a element of interest having a classic Col to get up.

What is it? Time-coded video of climbs or something?
Looking at specs. don't think my old laptop will run it. Oh well.
-
• #3141
Yeah, plus auto-adjustment of resistance based on actual gradient / weight / watts / speed.
It’s free and the videos can be downloaded if your bandwidth isn’t good enough to stream.
Give it a go, might not be too processor intensive if you’re not streaming.

Might look into this sounds fun, if turbo can be fun.
Guess I’d need a new turbo. Was thinking about these new Tacx ones. Need to check tt forum and see what the latest fad one is.

Elite direto is the best bang per buck for direct drive trainers.
-
• #3144
Bang for buck doesn’t equal best road feel and training adaption though. Hence checking tt forum. That’s why the lemond was favoured due to its characteristics giving decent pedalling feel, thus allowing good power output as muscle recruitment is similar to road.

It's the video that's usually the problem. It might work.
It sounds quite similar to what my Computrainer can do but I never use:

How much turbo vs. road did you do this year? I mean, if you're not doing much turbo you don't need anything flash, it's only when you start to do whole blocks of training on a turbo I reckon a posh one can help.

Tacx Neo is the only one supposed to be better than the Lemond when looking at KE/inertia. Am selling my Lemond to replace it with a Neo
-
• #3148
I think the top dogs these days are the kickr and neo. Tacx have lots of stories of QC issues though. @eyebrows just bought one and it's driven him mad.
-

Kickr kinetic energy/inertia is much lower than the Neo or Lemond though, so rules it out for me.

I thought I had! It was a joke anyway, this thread is all about dick swinging.
