However, any man being sexist or misogynistic within that sub-forum would be dropped from a great height this seems entirely reasonable and to be honest you'd have to be pretty fucking thick as a bloke to try such behaviour in a women specific section.

i'm just curious as to why it is a sub-section of general and not of the main?

Because it covers a cross-section of all other forums (which no other top level forum does except for General at times).
