Chapeau to all that endured and overcame.
The conditions sounded truly horrendous at times.Safety in Numbers, although hardly a ground-breaking doco, is still inspirational.

Matt good to see you this week, i'll keep you posted with autumn outings, news of fireflies 2011 ride.
James, Chriz, STB, tika, Pist and Sparky thank you for your messages.. I'll keep the forum up to date with future screenings and parties etc.
I won't be on the ride next year, as i am working on a trans pyrenees trip from biarritz to barcelona with a few mates, but suspect i will feature in the training sessions for the FF newbies. PM me for guest list inclusion. Whilst I am not involved in the selection process, I try to make this charity cycle team as inclusive as possible, through introduction.
safe riding..

that's a great video, using the Rollapaluza rigs seems to achieve the same effect as an alpine climb, for the purposes of the film, despite the difference in discipline.....why didn't it embed?

13 days ago, a group of 70 riders headed to Lake Geneva - Evian to embark on
another journey for Leuka Cancer Charity. Amongst us was a surviving cancer patient from Hammersmith Hospital. What happened during the next nine days was truly epic and harder than anything I could have ever imagined, despite completing the ride in 2007. The descent of the Col d'Iseran, in -15 deg icy roads and blizzard on 3 day was a tough call, i still don't know how i got down without crashing, brakes frozen, cleats frozen, fingers numb, i was shivering so much the bike wobbled all the way, about 15km descent to the next village where we found shelter..

anyway, that was the lowest point. the highest point was my descent off the Cormet de Roseland 20km in 25 mins max speed recorded 57mph! (day 2)
Also the Balkon road from Alpe d'Huez to Le Grave was stunning (day 4), the climb and descent of Cime De La Bonnette, the night time descent of Turini to Sospel where we saw the Fireflies lighting up the road, with there tiny bright green flashes (day 7)
And finally the legendary parties in Cannes over the past 3 days, which made up for all the hardships, and we topped our £1million target for Leuka..
