  • I would seriously consider the 40% off SRAM Red you have been offered up there^^!

  • I'm running a 7 speed block on the Moser. Nouvo Record rear and Gran Sport front changers, with Record DT friction shifters. Sure, there's a couple of adjustments needed on the front occasionally, but all do-able

  • I am seriously tempted by the SRAM Red, even at 40%, £600 is stretching it...

  • much more fitting on an old 80's frame.

    .

  • This is SRAM Red we're talking about, tempted to even put it on the Colnago.

  • I like friction too.

  • A bit of lube is a good thing.

and Edscoble, you boys eh? Sram red indeed.

All the red graphics would look a bit odd (well shit). But it would knock a massive amount of weight off the bike, and make riding it a bit nicer (IMHO).

groupset brand arguments aside. Sram have a good selection of crank lengths, and good adjustability built into the levers, as well as a wide selection of cassettes (you can know even run a 11-32 XX cassette if your rear cage is long enough).

  • I have to be honest though. The silver Rival groupset would look tons better.

  • Who can get a SRAM red groupset for £600?

Trade is £725, RRP is £1600

  • Trade: Phenodihydrochloride Benzelex, street: The Embalmer

  • Google gave me something like £1000 for the groupset, is this the same one we're talking about?

  • Yeah but that's already got £600 knocked off it.

    Bloody amateur.

Anyway, you're not ready for SRAM Red yet Ed, best stay on Campy until you get your 'road legs' in

  • incidentally a bloke in Condor told me he have some campag 8 speed index downtube shifter lying around.

If they are Synchro, don't bother. Synchro II are better but still less than reliable. Record RR are fantastic and work perfectly.

You can get SRAM Red with standard BB, chain, and cassette. For £799. Sounds like a good starter, when you consider the fact that the chain and cassette will need swapping at some point anyway.

  • The 1070 / Red group is amazing value. Doesn't shift as well though.

  • fucking shimano that bitch up.
    fuck this campag crap.

It think a hybrid SRAM/Campag/Shimano groupset is what's called for...

    Srimanolo.

  • The 1070 / Red group is amazing value. Doesn't shift as well though.

Available with 165mm cranks too [/shortarse]

  • I can't see Ed putting SRAM on his 'Nago, can you?

  • SRAM is a lifestyle choice, Ed is not ready to make the change. This is fact.

  • agreed.
    hi dovvles!
I still want a SRAM bike, having borrowed a friends recently. that shifting system is AWESOME!

  • I like all our avatars.

If Murts, BRM and Pip get on this thread that's all of us.

  • My green contraption is decked out completely with centaur kit, and while I love it to bits, I'd definitely choose Shimano or Sram for a high performance machine. Toughy. A steel Colnago demands Campag though, surely?

  • Or the skip?
