Aero brake levers

  • HI guys,

i just bought a set of profile airwings off the forum, they have a trp brake lever already attached, (aero/tt lever) i cant figure out how you take it off? doy uo just twist and pull it out or is there a screw of some sort?!

  • If they're anything like my sram ones, with internal cable routing, you'll need to pull the brake cable out from the lever (all the way), stick an allen key into the hole, unscrew to loosen the compression thingummy and it should just slide out.
does that make sense? i'm a bit rubbish at being clear in the mornings.

  • yeah kind of, it is an internal brake but doesnt have a cable at the moment, so basically if i depress the lever there is a silver bit on the inside it doesnt look like an allen key but it might ill give that a go!!

  • The silver bit holds the end of the brake cable, but further in there should be a clever allen key bit. you might need to hold the lever all the way open.

(Again, advice based on my sram ones, no idea about your specific case)

  • Tal, often they will have an end cap, like bar end plugs. This might need to be removed and 6pt is right... usually allen key holding in an expanding internal plug. Might need to prize a black plastic cap off the bar end/end of lever first...
