• open today?

  • i went in this morning to have a look. it was open.
    they sell coffee.
coffee is for losers.... so i left.

    nice Raliegh in there though.

I think you should go to the Rapha cafe instead.... the coffee is free, and they have a cool Fausto Coppi exhibition on downstairs.

  • you should go to the Rapha cafe instead.... the coffee is free,

Is that a café or a charity?

  • Sorry to be blunt, but fuck Rapha free coffee. Prefer to support local cafe with secure bike parking.

  • +1. And they're forum members too don't forget. And they have a mechanic on site.

  • ?!?!

Two super awesome forum members work @ Rapha.

  • Can't support them if the don't charge.

    Rapha has bike parking inside.

i just dont know how to contain myself.

  • Your contribution to this thread is exemplary.

  • sorry, it completely slipped my mind that people aren't allowed to express their own opinions on here.... but thanks none the less.

  • You're welcome.

(Have assumed sarcasm is the only way to communicate here)

  • Rapha has bike parking inside.

Anyway, the more place like these the better.

  • I payed for mine and Max's coffee in Rapha, so I don't know what constituted free in your book.

I Love Eggpie dearly, but the Rafa Cafe is...well, a bit weird. But this isn't the place for me to try and figure it out.

  • First coffee's on the house at Rapha Cafe. At least, that's how I understand it.

  • LMNH were having a nightmare yesterday by the sounds of it which sucked as it was my first visit. Didn't look THAT busy but wrong orders on the food and drinks for all the people in my vicinity for the two or so hours I was there - including myself and my veggie girlfriend who received a beef and stilton pie (We just swapped rather than bother them)

Worst of all for them I imagine was some sort of alarm going off VERY loudly in the kitchen for about 5 minutes and no one really looked like they knew what to do.

However, I love the venue and the concept, am fairly regularly within a couple of miles of it - so will defo be back.

That's why I keep away from there. Once I decide to go - free coffee.

Perhaps it was that new Irish guy serving? ;-)

  • good work on the new irish guy. he knows how to make coffee. needs a bloody hair cut though.

  • i miss that little irishman... should stop in to say hi

  • Straighteners are such an important part of his daily routine, apart from drinking Guinness, that he'd be lost without them.
Glad to hear he's doing fine.

As it happens that's been the 1 day that I wasn't working there since I started =P Coincidence? I think not ;)

YouTube- Stevie Nicks doing her hair w/ help from Robin 1977

We definitely could use a bit of Stevie Nicks in the place, i'll definitely get to work on that.

With regards to the LMNH/Rapha Cafe thing, I haven't been to the Rapha Cafe so I can't speak from experience. But it's good to hear that people are enjoying it. As Kris says, we need more places like this.
Some people will enjoy LMNH more, some Rapha, some will love both equally. I'd rather not have an argument about which is better as both have their merits.
Like I said I haven't been to the Rapha cafe yet but i'm sure it's a great place, as is LMNH. I'm incredibly lucky to work in such a fantastic place. I only hope you guys enjoy going there as much as I do.

I've got an empty Nutella jar here you can have ;)

Joking aside, I think you are spot on here. At the end of the day London should be able to support both (and more) of these ventures. I've not checked out Rapha but I will, mainly for the photo exhibition I have heard about. That said, other than that it doesn't appeal. Rapha, great kit but the brand smacks of pretention and a mentality of all the gear and no idea in my opinion. And whilst the forst coffee might be free, I assume astronomical prices for food purely based on their own pricing policies. But each ton their own, and I guess plenty of Rapha's clients would hate LMNH for the reasons I think it is great.

That was part of a blind taste experiment I was carrying out, honestly... =P

  • I prefer a flan!

  • I love it when a flan comes together.
