  • What if the only reason team Y is such a bitch to play is because they can only play so many games.

Then they should be questioning their commitment to the league. The league isn't compulsory for london polo players.

But to be inclusive.. maybe those players who cannot make time for games should be looking at subbing or being a a team like Zombie with two dedicated players and 2 subs? I highly doubt we'll have 25 teams next year.

  • Yeah 'sweet'...that's sweet dude. Lets do play-offs and the World Series.

Viva 'New London Hardcourt Bike Polo'!

  • Can I ask when the league runs from and to?

    ha!
    i'm afraid nobody knows....

No one knows when the league starts?
I'm wondering if I'm able to squeeze one league in before I leave in a years time.

  • i like the idea of two divisions, i like the idea of new teams doing a season in the lower league, i like the idea of good players beeing tempted towards a lower team for social or whatever reasons and helping them rise through the rankings, i like the idea of teams fighting to stay up, i like the idea of teams fighting for promotion, i like the idea of league winner going to Euros, i like the idea of playing more polo

  • I think teams larger than 3 is a good idea for ease of playing games,** but is a bad idea for London's polo teams to become the "best" they can be**.

I've yet to hear a compelling argument against a random league split yet, my opinion, just saying.

  • i like the idea of playing more polo

play Los Coños then... you've cancelled on us twice.

  • all star game, as if that would wash

It would be awesome. Why not? People in a division will vote on who they think the best players are. Those players = all star team.

So conservative! And confrontational. Don't harsh my good vibes dude. I'll come over to 14 and drink beer in front of the shop and not bring you one.

  • I appreciate committed to polo, but my bizarre schedule has made it difficult to find time to play that matches not only my team mates' schedules but that of other teams that have the same problems I do. And it doesn't mean we're not dedicated, but that our jobs/school (which, unfortunately, does come first) get in the way.

American style also doesn't mean that you can't play all teams. By all means, organise games if you're so inclined (and the teams can find the time). But it will help solve a lot of scheduling issues a number of teams have been having.

Also, 4 man teams sounds really good.

  • play Los Coños then... you've cancelled on us twice.

I see. It's all clear now. We're team Y. Fine.

    Whatever, dude.

  • Haaha no Dinos are team Y!!

  • I see. It's all clear now. We're team Y. Fine.

    Team 'Y do you bother'

You speak of inclusiveness, yet you seem to suggest that having poor working hours deems one as being non-commital and therefore shouldn't be included.

Not trying to put words in your mouth, just feeling a bit discluded by this argument, because I need to pay the bills! :/

  • Sarah - Saying that teams who have postponed/cancelled games aren't committed is a touch unfair, it doesn't take much for two teams to not be able to play. Ok if all 6 people work 9-5 and have little other commitments then ok things aren't too difficult to sort out but if some players have work on weekend and others college/work some weekday evenings things soon get complicated. Add those factors up with the 'random' commitments that pop up from time to time and the end result is the fixture being delayed due to no particular fault of anyone.

  • Then don't have a team in the league, don't try to change something that was/is fine.

  • As flexible as always, Aido! ;)

  • so we can either split the league or kick people out for not being committed enough?

i think splitting the league is far more inclusive.

  • not "kicking them out" they can find their own way out..

Commitment to polo is very different to commitment to a league. by having subs and 4-men teams is actually being more inclusive to those who can't find the time whilst also playing in the league.

  • so we can either split the league or kick people out for not being committed enough?

i think splitting the league is far more inclusive.

Where are you in the league? maybe you should think about leaving...

  • Then don't have a team in the league, don't try to change something that was/is fine.

Was/is fine but could be better?

Clearly this will go to a poll, and if the majority think splitting the league into two divisions is a good idea, than the majority do not think the league, as is, is perfect.

We're just talking, and thinking about what we don't like, and would like. I've made my choice I think (already!), but am willing to hear reasons why keeping a unified league is better. Just saying "It's fine" or "if you don't like it, don't play" isn't going to convince me.

  • Maybe split the league into committed/not-committed-enough, that way committed teams don't have to bother with those who can't find the time but still want to play competitive polo.

  • Where are you in the league? maybe you should think about leaving...

i've no idea where we are in the league, who's 'the league'?

  • Commitment to polo is very different to commitment to a league. by having subs and 4-men teams is actually being more inclusive to those who can't find the time whilst also playing in the league.

    Fair enough.

  • Beards have only played 10 games, not very committed is it?
