Isn't the Norwich forum just about incest?
-
• #28
Yeah, but Liverpool is a pretty vibrant city now as well.
Can't argue with that. Especially since the defeatists headed for London and the Home Counties...

Really?
I tried it literally, ironically, every which way. Not funny.

Hurp durp. Someone did the inbreeding joke about half a page ago, keep up.
As for the City of Culture thing, we've got a strong bid for 2013. Scoff all you like but an accolade like that brings a lot of money & culture into a city, I hope we get it.
Other than that, I don't think there's much point comparing London and Norwich. There are benefits to both. Sure, you're more likely to get stabbed in London but you're more likely to have a dull night out in Norwich.

Norwich is steeped in atmosphere and peppered with unique architectural treasures.

Only 200k from west London.. who's up for a nice little cultural visit?
-

A ride to Norwich sometime would be great. Sparky could go the other way and we could crash into each other halfway in the middle of nowhere. ;)

Or something like a GPS-based city challenge. Two groups start out from different cities, riding towards each other. When they meet, along the same route, GPS is used to work out the distance to where they started out from. The group that has gone further wins and everybody rides back to the city where the losers started.
-

Seriously though, I've never been there and I need a destination for rides at the moment.. weening myself off sportives sucks.

Where the winners started, no? So they don't have to buy tickets home :)
-
• #38
No, where the losers started, so that the winners have a more varied ride and they get to reach their destination.
-
• #39
Oh, and the losers pay for the train tickets or the beers or something, right?
Anyway, can someone just organise the London to Norwich please?
Shit, I just realised I still haven't been to Cambridge. Fail

I believe it is 115 miles. I'd be up for it.
Or you could always do the Dunwich dynamo and then head 50 miles north to Norwich afterwards. -
• #41
I just told you how far it is.. don't be throwing ye olde voodoo measurements into the mix.
DD is DD.
L2N is L2N. -

A round sounds like a good idea.
Anyway, can someone just organise the London to Norwich please?
I'd be happy to help hippy.

buy a .co.uk domain (£2.99) and have it forward to your section....or set up your own forum even?
-

How about us Norwich lot come down to London, meet up with you all and ride back? When we get here we can go for some beers.
If we're going to do it you should book tickets early. They can be as cheap as £6 a few weeks in advance, and as much as £50 single on the day.
There's still a guard's carriage on the line, with room for LOTS of bikes.
The Rumsey Wells is a damn fine pub, with a beer garden out back where we could stash our bikes and be able to see them from inside.

I'd certainly be up for this but need to get my fitness levels up and so it depends when it is.

The outlaws live just outside Norwich, that alone means it's worth avoiding. ;-)
