  • The exhaust would be awesome especially as you are losing the cat.

Instant MOT failure for any car registered after August 1992. Unless you replace the exhaust with the original plus cat for the MOT (obviously).

  • V-bands.

Car will have a cat for the one day a year it needs it, taken out of the old downpipe- currently sitting on top of the radiator in my hall.

Depends on where you go for your MOT ;p

  • Or, you can swap to E85 and it will pass emissions with no cat.

currently being hidden by two bikes, is that some sort of tenuous carbon offsetting?

  • The car cost me £2,000, although I had to go to Aberdeen to get it.

I've spent probably twice that in maintenance since, and will spend the same again on engine/turbo/exhaust/tune this year.

Ultimately it will be a large estate car with heated seats, great stereo etc, that has a rock solid and reliable 350bhp/500 foot pounds of torque, and can get Hippy and myself to a cycling holiday in Trieste in comfort at pace.

If I can sort the brakes out!

I'll try a couple of "big" stops tomorrow and see what happens.

Sounds a great project I wish I had the space and so extra cash for a project, just had my car up and did an oil change. If you need oil check out opie oils on the net.

Just in case a hipster comes round- did you notice the "Reynolds 531 double butted" sticker on the downtube?

  • no, but i did notice that your cat is so huge he makes the floor boards creak!

  • Small but dense he is.

Did you like the bike stands?

  • nice touch yeah. nice building too. like an old school in a way

  • Tracking a Volvo estate is uber cool. Nice one. Let me know when you do so I can come re-live the BTCC glory days.

Also I highly recommend upgrading to coilovers. Best thing I ever did to my car.

  • ^johann.

  • Just pop the pads out and take a look at them. Maybe rub a file over them a few times to clean off any little bit that may be stuck in the pad.

  • I'll come back this way

See if that gets rid of it.
