man, i cut through the back streets to avoid that intersection (well all of balls pond rd). well there has been work on the kingsland shopping centre up the road for the last year or two. so there are trucks in the area.

newington green road becomes essex road. lorries coming from dalston (i.e. from the east) may turn left there, which i guess is what happened. i don't recall ever seeing a lorry from NGR turn left onto balls pond road (although i don't hang out at that corner watching traffic routinely!)
i live just up the road so cycle fairly frequently around there, although i try to avoid that junction as well.

That's not a very common manoeuvre at that junction. It is a very tight turn.
Hip injuries in particular can be very, very nasty. Hope she manages to recover from this!
This is just east of the spot in St Paul's Road where Hülya Türkmen was hit by a lorry in 2004, resulting in the amputation of one of her legs.
I use that junction a lot and there are certainly quite a few lorries, but I haven't noticed any particular increase since the Dalston works started. I mostly only go from King Henry's Walk to Essex Road, though.

It is shocking for me to see this picture.
Is it possible to see it bigger? Is it the only one??
I would like to see more, so I can have a better understanding of how did it happen.
Now it is time to recover...
Thanks,
the injured woman -

Tuesday 16th, last week. A woman was run down by a left turning London Concrete lorry at junction of Newington Green and Balls Pond road. Sometime after 11am. She has a broken hip and foot.
Did anyone see this or the aftermath? Is this a route often used by these concrete lorries?
