  • Lovely. 🤗

  • We're on our annual pilgrimage to see the seals in Norfolk. Cute baby seal alert.

  • Waxham?

We usually go to Waxham, Horsey and Winterton. You're more restricted at Horsey and Winterton, but Waxham you can get down level with the seals (so long as you don't take the piss and get too close). Saw plenty of numpties at Horsey getting within about 1.5 of the seals near fences trying to do selfies. I mean FFS.

Blakeney Point is briliant too, but the last few times we tried to go, the boats here cancelled.

  • Earlier this week I picked up this Fujifilm Finepix S2 Pro, a camera from 2002. It's based on the Nikon F80 film body, with sort of an integrated digital back. There's two sets of batteries, pair of CR123's for the camera body and a quartet of AA's for the digital part.

I'm very much enjoying using this one, here's a few pictures from a walk earlier today. I'll have to check the settings again as apparently I'm at the moment shooting JPEG's, I think these are pretty much straight from the camera.

Also, I've recently moved back to using Linux and all the raw editors are still useless compared to Lightroom.

  • Great portrait!

  • Have you tried Darktable? I am absolutely in love with it. It's a more modern approach to image processing and is a lot more capable than Lightroom so might need a bit of getting used to but the colours you can get out of it are magical.

  • Darktable and RawTherapee, I'm really struggling with the workflow. Maybe I just need to give it a bit more time.

  • We park at Horsey and walk NW to Sea Palling and beyond. The seals are often in the dunes, and you can quite soon drop down onto the beach, too. They don't seem to go beyond Sea Palling, but it's a lovely beach for the dog to run about on. (He's on a short lead when there's any chance of finding a seal).

  • I’ve found that as much as all the popular shots with diffusion filters seem to be of neon lights in cities or provincial petrol stations because “cinematic good”, they’re actually more useful in good sunlight of various levels (indoors or out). Much more subtle and throw a bit of grain on there and you’re golden.

  • Few recent ones with a Ricoh GR3
