Title: Brunel Tunnel Tour
Message: I have bought tickets for this tour on Saturday, but there is no mention of an address on the website or confirmation email. Could you tell me where this tour starts from please?Thank you for your email.
All the information has been posted to you with your tickets. The tour will start 15 minutes prior to your allocated time at Rotherhithe Underground station.
Thanks for the prompt response. I am opted to collect my tickets from the 'ticket office', so there wouldn't have been any way for me to find this information out without contacting you.
Could you also confirm where the collection point for the tickets is please? At Rotherhithe station, or at the Covent Garden location?
You can collect from Covent Garden or we can send them first class today, if you are not able to reply by the end of today I will post them for you.
Regards
Wonder how long it takes them to realise they don't have my address.
Or will they just try to post it to my email address..? -

I like that the tour will start 15 minutes before your allocated time! WTF?!

Clefty's link doesn't go anywhere anymore, so sorry for the lazy question - is the tunnel being closed for good, or just for the tube line extension?
When we went last time, they were talking about launching a big campaign to renovate the access tunnel (the thing on Salter Street) and hold events there. They also said that there's regular late night train tours you can do - there's two tunnels with sculpted (Romanesque I think) columns and arches between the north and south routes, which still have a lighting system.

I believe that after this weekend, the tunnel becomes reabsorbed into the tube network. So, last chance to take a walking tour through it, but there will be plentiful future opportunities to take a train ride through it.

Went on the 11:15 tour today, small groups of around 10 people- we were the youngest by about 30 years, I guess thats the joy of going on a weekday!
The information on how to get there is vague..the best way is to get the 381 bus from bus stop H on Tooley St going towards Peckham, its about a 10 min journey - you need to alight at Rotherhithe Station, which is the one after the Tunnel. The Tour starts from inside the station.
You basically walk the tunnels between Rotherhithe and Wapping Stations, its well lit - but wear strong shoes as you're walking down the tracks. Ample opportunity for photos, take a fast lens or a good flash or even a tripod.
Pics uploading now. -

Thanks clefty. Have stashed a monopod, and dragged some clomping shoes in my bag for later, and am going to be iso1600 it. Look forward to pics.
The instructions about latex gloves and Weils disease a bit unnerving, I must admit.

They do give you latex gloves, but to be honest it's one of the cleanest tube tunnels I've ever seen!
They just have to do their health & Safety thing I guess. I used my D350 with a prime 50mm 1.8 lens and most pics came out really nice.
The American lady who took us down there was a blue badge London guide, so gave us some nice little history bits as well. -

Ha! Nice. Looks like something of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I like the 'Overground' roundel:
