I was thinking of the road bullies who think they are more important than the rest and can't share the roads without having a go at someone.

(I haven't recovered from the bus driver who almost drove into my back wheel because he was annoyed I wasn't using the shit cycle lane on the pavement)

I was in Cambridge yesterday and watched Taxi Driver with a friend. On my way home, a Taxi Driver turned onto the main road, into the cycle path, from the left with his eyes closed and miraculously missed my rear wheel. He thought it was funny.
That is all.

Leave James alone, he may be suffering from spoilt child syndrome but otherwise he's ok ;p

Sem, that is not funny and they need to be clear as to how fucking stupid and dangerous their actions are.
Vee - when does using a ton or more of steel to clear a path for yourself not constitute bullying?
Is it not the case that they think they are more important than cyclists?
These drivers are either negligent, and not driving with due care and attention, or they have seen us cyclists and believe "its only a cyclist, they will give way to me"
So they are either fucking cretins or bullying with their motor vehicle.
Using a car to intimidate me is bullying, at which point an aggressive verbal response seems relatively restrained.

A man souting at a woman who is alone in her car is bullying. Yes she could have fucked you up and needed to be made aware of this but you can do this without going mental. I would say her panic from your outrage went a fair way in causing the other incident.
Sorry, but thats what I got from reading your first post.

She told me she had looked, she was not telling the truth.
So she narrowly missed hitting me - because i took evasive action and she then lied to my face.
Not exactly a great start to an interaction.
If she is that easily rattled then she clearly should not be on the roads.

also, i dont descriminate between whether it was a woman or a man who has driven badly, they all get equal attention.

Seriously, If you can't keep a cool head as a driver OR cyclist then you will reduce you ability to not make a given situation worse. The driver that narrowly missed DJ and then drove off in a huff and hits another cyclist is clearly to easily flustered and probably should not continue driving without some re-education.
When I get cut up by drivers being stupid my first reaction is always rage and death to their world but I am learning it's more effective at least trying to calmly let them know where they went wrong.
When that fails then it's wild gesticulating and angry words. At least I feel better then.
Sadly I have to practice this technique nearly on a daily basis.

I would have been really pissed of had this been me in your situation and I have got angry at drivers before. But, there are ways of dealling with it. I dont think getting angry all the time is the way to get people to look out for cyclists. It simply creates bad blood.

It only took 5 hours and 2 pages for this thread to turn into a witch hunt condemning James as a woman hater lol

go easy on yourself, they are fuckwitted- yes. But getting yourself adrenalised about it all the time wont help you.
After the training, you know about positioning etc, just do what you can and go with the flow,
totally aware Im about to get flamed for this, but it dosent do you any good losing the cool, stay cool. If you need to feel superior-do, they fucked up, you dont need to as well. -

Actually can I thank the wanker on the titanium/titanium coloured cycle who decided that my passenger side door mirror was an afrront to him as he decided to kick it. Wonder what had been done as I'd been sitting still for at least 5 minutes in traffic and not been passed any cyclists.
Hope the cyclist injured his hand.

There used to be a guy in Shepherds Bush that would walked very quickly and do a skip every so often whilst tugging at a cigarette every 2 seconds. The last I saw off him was that he had taken up jogging but would do it with a skip and a jump minus the cigarette, if James carries on stressing out like this then he will end up like that guy or the one that lives near me who wears a Sainsbury's bag on his head slaps his head whilst walking down the road and runs towards cars shouting at them.

I think DJ is full of imbalance, in all areas.. bringing equality into this thread could cause upsets.
Complete aside but kind of on topic:
I was driving to Chelsea yesturday and trying to pull out a side road and turn right, cars were parked everywhere and i had to edge out to see if it was clear, the traffic started moving so i got into position, edging out, as i was moving this amazingly aggresive driver came from nowhere from my right at full speed. and nearly took us out.
I was in the wrong as i was coming out the junction into his lane but;
He nearly put himself through his window and went balistic, the minute i saw his face i just couldn't stop laughing, the brother was nearly white. i swear his entire life flashed through his eyes before he managed to stop just inches from the side of our car.
He drove away in a far more careful manner, I like to think he learnt a little from our meeting
