Ha, great photo!

I'll be the one who mentions, for those who didn't see the news, that this is a Banksy artwork in Nottingham, with the broken bike placed next to it quite deliberately.

• #5105
I did wonder if this was the case!

Did the bike come first or the art work? I feel that's important.
Quite like that as a tattoo idea.

I don't feel it is (as I suspect neither do you), and I do wonder why it supposedly warrants a flurry of news articles every time he does something, as God knows there are more important things to report, notwithstanding him funding humanitarian efforts in the Mediterranean. But here you go:
Surinder Kaur, 42, who runs the beauty salon next to the mural, said the bike had appeared at the same time as the mural.

Naturally its not important in the true sense of the word.
I guess what I mean is its important as to whether I think its quite cool or really cool. I like to think Banksy, whoever he is, was walking along the road, saw the bike and had a light bulb moment. Rather than what appears to be setting it up and essentially dumping a broken bike.
However, for his work in Palestine alone he will always have my respect.

An artist from Bham, who I'd never heard of (itchers) has said it's his handiwork & not a Banksy!
-
• #5110
Fair enough, but is he also funding humanitarian efforts in the Mediterranean?

Unsure why you would go to such lengths as to replicate an existing artist and then get pissy when it is credited to the person who you are copying.
Also, why would banksy try and claim it as his own, if it wasn't, not like he needs the attention (he gets it enough with his actual work) -

Cleverness aside, the stencilling did look a bit less sharp than Banksys usual work.

As security goes, that sucks.

I'm disappointed that the person who locked this evidently rides the bike and not the vacuum cleaner.

Would be very tempting to move it to one of the other bollards.

It's easier to use those to snip the cable rather than using them to snip the key off the owner.

Versatility is always appreciated in a tool.
Would be very tempting to move it to one of the other bollards.
It’s a £130 Argos folding bike, you might want a squat belt.

Pretty much the same thing happened to a friend of mine once, except it wasn't in a car park but in a street.
Choice.
