  • Them locks are perfectly appropriate in some places.

    /everywhere is not london]

  • Kryptonite fahg lock is £120 RRP.

Surely 120 of those £1 locks on a single bike would be safer...?

  • No-one pays 120 quid for a fahgettaboutit

  • I'm always confused by locking to a post with a little sign atop. But without a sign is just funny really, like a sort of joke about limited perception or something deep like that.

  • I thought you're talking about the saddle angle.

  • I thought you're talking about the saddle angle.

    It'll be sorted out rapidly.

Saddle on quick release, much theft, no saddle problem.

  • Reminds me, took this photo in Poundland the other day

    Heavy.

    Duty.

surely that contravenes some sort of ruling about false advertising?

  • It's actually just a label from customs

  • Are you saying I should return it and get my money back?

  • Unlock them and re-lock them all in a big bundle so no-one can be bothered to buy them.
Congratulations, you've just saved some innocent fool from having their bike knicked.
Hide lock bundle in pick n mix for extra satisfaction.

Haha, it's about as much good as using these!!

  • Sucks to be the owner of the white bike, if they didn't leave the house with the right spanner to remove their rear brake.
I was the owner of the white bike. I left the house without the right spanner to remove my rear brake.

  • I assume you did the right thing and took a shit on their saddle?

  • Did you not have an allen key to undo the adjuster and remove the cable?

  • Idiot - I should have done.
Roboto - The cable adjuster on this one doesn't take an allen key, it takes an 8mm spanner. I didn't have that either. God bless Weinmann.

This was outside Whitechapel hospital, so I went in to ask to borrow a spanner from their maintenance team. Firstly they said they couldn't, "because of the insurance". Then they said one of their team would need to do it, but "it could take up to twelve hours for him to get around to it." Translated, I took that to mean 'please go away'.
So I went round the corner and bought a spanner for £1.50, bargain. I left the owner of the black bike a friendly note explaining what I thought of him and how close he'd come to me renting an angle grinder and cutting his lock off.

  • Bureaucratic bollocks! Alls well that ends well at least..

  • Gone In 6 Seconds - YouTube

    http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/news/video_police_release_cctv_footage_of_bike_being_stolen_in_norwich_1_3342213

Superintendent Dave Marshall said: “This footage highlights the ease at which bikes can be stolen if they are not secured properly. In this case it was gone in six seconds.

“All too often we see bikes secured with cheap cable locks. It makes no sense using a lock which costs £1 for a bike worth several hundred pounds and we would always recommend cyclists use D-locks.”

Ed sold me 2 and gave me a bikefit for free

  • ^^ looks like someone drunk on the way back from the pub rather than a profesh thief

  • looked like he's done it before, he moves the bike to get a better angle then yanks it right at the weak point. No way would I leave even a clarty old shitty bike there overnight.

  • ^^^^I lock my bike there all the time during the day, a nice reminder to never leave it overnight for any reason.

  • Love the frameset, lack of attention to locking at Homerton hospital sheffield stands but it was outside Leabridge, Chatham and Kings Ward police station. Still, it would have taken me minutes to take everything bar frame in my stealth commuting gear.

  • minutes? it would take me seconds to grab the felt by the handlebars, place a foot on the pedal and vanish into the ether...

  • I left my bike unlocked for 20 minutes outside Aldi by mistake last night.

I was so busy making sure I had taken all my lights, bag, and anything else that could get nicked off it that I plain forgot to lock it up. I only discovered my mistake when I came to unlock it and for a brief moment thought 'some cunt has nicked my lock'
