my chain tension is a bugger to sort out
the bolts on the goldtech hubs cant get a great deal of grip on ti droputs (after 18 months there is no mark on the trackends)
so i have to retension every few days, starting slightly tight with the knowledge it'll get slacker over a day or so

Try chain tugs?
-
• #31
Or would the phil wood domes fit? i had a similar problem with my phil wood rear hub slipping, so i just got some domes, so far so good with the domes.
-
• #32
there is a part of the hub that protrudes into the trackend so it means things like an mks chug wont fit
same problem with chromedomes
-
• #33
ti bolts?
-
• #34
A couple of serrated washers?
-
• #35
there is an aluminium cap on the bolts that are part of the goldtech hub.
ed - the bit that inserts into the frame from the chrome dome will push against the similar bit on the hub.
might investigate serrated washer

Sorry I just delete my post after reading that the Chrome Dome doesn't work.

Get the On-One tugs made for QR wheels and enlarge the hole to 8mm to fit the Goldtec bolt

you turn the mks tugs around the other way. ie : 180 degs putting the plate on the outside of the drop-outs. then they work.

Durability is so 2004.

James, you could try a Sugino Zen chainring? Meant to be the roundest and strongest.
-
• #42
its more about longevity
might also get the chrome domes and file them down
-
• #43
I imagine they would last a long time. They would last ages for the same reason they are tough.
Unless I'm talking out of my arse and they are made from the same compound as Sugino 75 rings, which I can't imagine is the case.
-
• #44
expensive way to solve a simple problem
could try the goldtec track rings, double sided so are reversable. twice the life and cheaper than 75's
-
• #45
Zens might last twice as long as 75 rings. Hard to find any stories from people as most Zen rings around are on track bikes, which put the ring under different stresses than a fixed road bike.
-
• #46
I think a fixed road bike put more stress than a bicycle made only for track racing, even Nagasawa himself said that his frame (despite being the strongest Keirin frame) are not expected to last a year of heavy riding by an American.
Unless I'm just talking out of max's arse about that.
-
• #47
why would it?
do commuters/hipsters go flat out all the way or even heavy sprint the same as keirin riders? -
• #48
dont have them in my size on the goldtec website they have "145 pcd"
i thought i needed 144 bcd
-
• #49
that is a typo silleee
-
• #50
That was a mistake, the Goldtecs are 144 bcd.

I'm running the alloy EAI (19t). They're supposed to be made of cheese but it seems to be lasting just fine. I'm no weight weenie but they are lovely and light.
