Meh.
Wanted to go up there to see what the deal was, good view (kind of), easy to figure out.
Would've taken the photo from higher up but figured there'd be whining here about trespassing. -

Was fairly sure this had been done but apparently not.

Just a quick bit of info on that laser beam. I've grown quite fond of it over the years and now happen to live on a street it passes over, which made me happy. But at some point in autumn last year it was switched off, seemingly for good. The reason? Telford Homes decided to build a massive tower right on its path, and despite using the beam in promotional material, decided to blame Greenwich for the 'mistake'. Happily, the beam now points at a slightly higher angle and is back on, much to my geeky delight.

It was a nice sunny day so I decided to do this ;)
Old: 0 Degrees at the Greenwich Observatory, a piece of art by artists Peter Fink and Anne Bean. The laser was ‘unveiled' on 1 May 1993. In 1999, a replacement laser called 'Millennia VS' was installed. You can't see the beam in the picture below but you can see the hole it comes out of above the door into the old observatory.
New: Another thing which fires stuff into the sky.
