I still love Jens.
-
• #6
what it does not tell you is that the guy in red is a Swiss army cycling champion......
-
• #7
it probably does, but it's in German.
-
• #8
its a sub 8kg road bike not 8lbs btw phil
-
• #9
Not so sure about those boots though.
-

Going by what the presenter says, it's a 99-year old Swiss military bike that actually weights 27kg!
-
• #11
I think this thread should now be devoted to the appreciation of Jens.

The bird in the grey dress has a cute arse and I think it weighs less then the bike or am I missing the point here.

• #13
isnt that 70s tennis ace Vitas Gerulaitis hosting this??

and lance said its not about the bike.
The problem is Jens is lumped with some POS specialized langster wannabe, if he was on a 531 track bike he would have smashed that random. -

Sorry guys, it would appear I've had a complete weight fail here. Point still stands though, the guy in red kicked Jens' ass on a f*****g heavy ass bike!

It was a gift. Jens would've smoked him if he tried.

The problem is Jens is lumped with some POS specialized langster wannabe, if he was on a 531 track bike he would have smashed that random.I think that is basically what this showed.
That a stiff simple bike, even if it is much much heavier is better for riding fast over short distances than a bike made to be as light as possible without disintegrating which would obviously be superior for riding up hills over long distances.
Lesson of the day that we already knew:
FG/SS make good city bikes.
Possibly new information:
Lightweight Thomson seatposts will not make you sprint faster.

Doesn't he seem to start out in too high a gear?
-

it probably does, but it's in German.
It doesn't give you that choice bit of information, no (that Daniel Markwalder is a Swiss army cycling champion), but "Wetten, dass ..." is a pretty shit programme that has to scrabble around for something worth showing. Still incredibly popular, though.
A journalist from the satirical magazine Titanic once exposed the programme-makers' gullibility by pretending that he could taste the colours of crayons. He did it simply by peering out from under the blindfold. No-one twigged it when it was broadcast.

I take it saxo bank will be swapping the team bikes to military tank bikes for TdF 2010. Should help Wiggo compete with the Schleck bros in the mountains at least.
Just came across this on Youtube. Excuse the lack of English on it.
Basically it's some guy on a 99yr old 29lb singlespeed butchers bike and he's doing a straight 200m drag against Jens Voight who's riding his standard sub-8lb road bike. Have a watch!
