• Me too! Good isn't it

It's very good, albeit as you say massively depressing. Still, I felt vindicated in my decision to avoid practising criminal law in any way whatsoever.

  • They'd be the ones to [mcj78] ask, I'd guess.

Or I could just ask myself, being equally qualified on that front.

  • Yeah it is. I think Clive tweeted about it and then a workmate got called up for jury duty so I figured I should read it to see what might happen. Like everything else the government has driven it into the ground with budget cuts.

  • Or I could just ask myself, being equally qualified on that front.

  • " my decision to avoid practising criminal law in any way whatsoever."

Looks like there's a new book soon:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fake-Law-Truth-About-Justice/dp/1529009944

  • Nope, no experience of the criminal justice system at all, apart from pleading mitigation for a careless driving offence about 20 years ago. Anyway, it's hardly a secret.

  • Still, I felt vindicated in my decision to avoid practising criminal law in any way whatsoever.

That is just what the Secret Barrister would say to put people off the scent.

You are the secret barrister AICMFP

You'll need to fill in a claim form first.

  • I just sent a RoadSafe report about a tractor driver and a white Corsa, for probably the scariest punishment pass I've experienced. The tractor overtook me on a singletrack lane, the tractor only just fit down it themselves. With only inches of space between their gargantuan tyres and my puny shoulder I was pushed into the mud off of the road and inches away from the hedgerow. The white Corsa then drew unnecessarily close with a follow up punishment overtake. After reaching the Corsa at the end of the lane the driver then exclaimed 'You deserved that'!
I began filming directly after the tractor incident and have the Corsa's manoeuvre plus his splutter of bile. Originally I just wanted to film the tractor as there were more cyclists up ahead and was concerned that they would get the same treatment.

I didn't submit the video as it doesn't show the main incident. Do you reckon it's worth adding?

  • Know any Barristers?

@mcJ78 might be worth asking Martin Porter QC on twitter: https://twitter.com/martinporter6?lang=en for his opinion about sharing the footage with the company (not the big wide world)

  • Do you reckon it's worth adding?

Definitely add it. Probably won’t achieve anything here (unless the corsa driver drops them in it - which could happen in an attempt at self-preservation- or the cyclists ahead may have had need to report also). But it may be taken into account for the driver in future and it means the stats are recorded.

Also - fucking tractors paying no road tax...

    Glad you’re ok, dude.

  • I have a tractor and delight in not paying VED for it.
Reminds me I have to go to the farm next door. One of our trees fell in the winds across the fence on Sunday and I chainsawed the tree today but need to go and collect the wood with my tractor tomorrow.

  • Thanks man, I'll see if there's a response as I mentioned what I had captured but not submitted.
Maybe if there's any follow up it'll be worth uploading.
I still can't believe how close they were.
    Edited: asked to remove photies.

  • Fuck

    Report both of them

  • Pissed just looking at those pictures. Report them.

  • maybe they knew each other and tractor prick was trying to impress Corsa cock. He's a fuckwit too because by saying "You deserved that" he's incriminated himself. Criminal mastermind.

  • Is there a standard wording for emails to companies to alert them to their drivers being on the phone and asking them to do something about it. Should such incidents be Roadsafed at the same time?

  • Actually I briefly considered that myself. All I could think about afterwards though, was finding them down the road and slashing their tyres, leaving them stranded in the lanes, then I'd cycle off whistling joyfully and yelling "you deserved that".

  • Not that i'd expect the Police to bother but looking at that photo a simple "did you overtake a cyclist the other day" to the tractor driver could prove that it would of been a horrific close pass.

  • I wouldnt bother telling the company, they won't give a shit. Roadsafe all the way.

On that note, fuck Plantation Shutters. Was horribly close passed a few years ago by one of their vans, then death threats when I called them out on it at the lights. Company didnt give a shit

  • Company didnt give a shit

Isn't it annoying that a "name and shame" thread has been vetoed.

  • Vetoed by who? For what reasons? I'll take my issues to the boycotting thread

  • That thread seems to be for boycotting brands because they're globally shitty. I believe there used to be a thread for "I'm not using this London company again because their drivers keep trying to kill me" and it was axed due to concerns about libel or some such.

  • I reported this to the company in question.

Hi James, We can only apologise on the drivers behalf and we will speak to him regarding this incident. Apologise again.

    😒

  • Standard bullshit nothing's-gonna-happen answer. Had a couple of those. What can be expected though, but hopefully if everyone affected made a complaint, they might start to think 'hold on, maybe this isn't a strong image for the business'. Or maybe not.

I put it through on Roadsafe regardless, so maybe not all is lost.
