I've not been up to the netherton tunnel for about 18 months, the last time i think it was closed, does anyone know if its open to cycle through again?
although i live in london did that tunnel last summer on a jaunt from kiddiminster to central brum along the canal ways
did it on my own and i can say it did shit me up a bit i ended up having to push the bike as i didn't have lights and the walkway on the southern side just seemed too be too narrow to ride
the section from the east end of the tunnel to central brum was a beautiful ride
Just saw your post and joined so I could answer.
I rode the tunnel again yesterday it's fully open as long as you take the right hand side as you view it from the visitor centre at Bumble Hole. The other side has lots of pot holes and is at times gated closed. Th3 visitor centre was the victim of an arson attack last year but it's back up and running now after costing £25K to sort the damage.
Don't forget a decent front light or 2, my eyes took a few minutes to adjust as the light outside was a bright sunny day. Oh and watch out for the nutters at Great Bridge if you cycle along there, we almost got taken out by a Twunt on a motorcycle.
Be on your guard - the pathway is flooded in places and has been flooded for so long the floor has turned into a sandy residue. And some puddles are a lot deeper than you think. Protip: Don't stop. XD
