  • I used the search but couldn't find the thread I'm sure is on here.

There has been a lot of Mexican places open up in London recently are any of them good?
What are your old favorites etc?

  • Is the forum obsessed with food this year?

  • I had a burrito from Tortilla about two hours ago... Bloody good...

  • 'Wahaca', mexican market food, yum!

Still wins on the mexican food front as far as im concerned, although as you say, they seem to have been popping up everywhere recently, I havent been out for mexican in ages...

  • I been wonderin the same. Cucarachas on Battersea Rise for example - stupid name - but anybody been?

Knew I had read It on here somewhere thanks,
I think there is enough new places to warrant a new thread (or something ;)

  • Forget Mexican food - the way ahead is obviously Mexican Polish food.

Try L'Autre 5b Shepherd St W1 (ages since I wnt there but for Mayfair was cheap and I enjoyed the food). Odd mix but it works well, pirogi and enchiladas, anyone?

Kudos to Aroogh who beat me to it.

  • I like Mercado on Stoke Newington Church Street http://www.mercado-cantina.co.uk/

  • What's that place on Leather Lane? - market stall (catering van) I had some veggi bean burritos there, they were nice

  • El Camino from Portobello Rd are about to or have just opened a new restaurant in Soho, they'll serve beers/Cocktails and burritos until 03:00am.

  • I like Mercado on Stoke Newington Church Street http://www.mercado-cantina.co.uk/

£8.50+ for a burrito es muy caro!

  • 'Wahaca', mexican market food, yum!

It's Oaxaca not Wahaca FFS, why did'nt they call it something people could pronounce in the first place rather than re-spelling it!?

It's half past four by my watch

Alright calm down, it's not my fault they called it Wahaca

A dedicated Mexican Food Thread is such an obvious thing yet we don't have one until now. Damn. Kudos to you.

Also - Best Carnitas recipe in London on the recipe thread

  • for cal/mex food i like La Perla, in either Fulham or Covent Garden, the sweet soy duck quesadillas are fucking awesome.
Green and Red used to be good, not sure what its like now.........
    Mercado, hit or miss.
Mestizo....wicked menudo, and good food in general.
    Daddy Donkey ok......
Wahaca was really average last time i went there......

Thats my opinions on mexican places in London, i used to manage one of them, although a few more have opened since i left london......I forgot Crazy Homies.......hmmmm ok lets forget it!

  • Been to and enjoyed Green & Red and Wahaca. G&R was better.
Staff are really nice and lots of tequila sampling was had.

  • Forget Mexican food - the way ahead is obviously Mexican Polish food.

This is so weird. There is a Polish/Mexican one on Upper St also. A peculiar marriage.

That Mex restaurant in Stokey is fucking tripe. I'll never go there again. My 2 meals there have been poor, the service shit and the beer warm. Fail-food.

Ate at Wahaca recently and was pleasantly surprised by the Pork Pibil... though we had to send the first one back as it was burnt. Our waitress was rubbish too.

Chilangos on upper street is ok for quick burritos and tacos, though it feels a bit like Subway sandwiches. Also for what it is, its a bit over priced... cost £7 or so for a burrito from memory. They servce Pacifico beer though, which is a massive upside.

Enjoyed the food/atmosphere at Crazy Homies, but couldnt get a beer for the life of me.

  • i just read the title at a glance as 'mercian food'

    damn you teddy!
