try edwardes in camberwell.......24 inch bmx cruiser rims.........they might have some old stuff knocking around
-
• #3
The rim can't be wider than 20mm else I'll just get the shitty aerohead.
I've found aload of Mavic Sprint rims in 24", but all are Grey, which is really not what I need. -
• #4
i have some weinmann rims in 24 inch, and some rigidas, but that doesn't help you as they are laced into wheels and a long way from you.....
-
• #5
i was looking at these too - what's wrong with the aerohead, just ugly?
i know araya make 24" clinchers, think i saw a few on the bay fairly recently

could do a group buy on something i suppose (argh must not contemplate building the purple dream machine...!)
might even be willing to go halves on these if you fancy tubs [edit: not sure myself]: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160393260455&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Aeroheads are just really soft and they can't handle the tension that I crave,
-
• #8
Those Arayas look like the shit.
Might have to get me one....Edit: Maybe not. Forgot about customs. Bugger.
-
• #9
This tension that you crave intrigues me. I'm sure a decent wheelbuilder can work with an Aerohead.
-
• #10
just check the size of the arayas....it says 24 x 11/8.....not sure what size tyres you are going to fit, just in case check!
-
• #11
seems like they'd be ISO 23-520 non?
edit: unkle sheldon seems to agree
-
• #12
@ harry ... have you got any 650 velocity deep v's black machined in the shop yet ?
-
• #13
seems like they'd be ISO 23-520 non?
edit: unkle sheldon seems to agree
i bow to sheldons superior knowledge, having never ridden a bmx cruiser with 24x11/8, 24x13/8 and 24x1.75 wheels in my entire life.

Wools: I like my spokes like I like my corpses and dicks: Stiff. But jokes aside I go for the max with tension. No movement at all. Aeroheads are a soft road race rim and simply can't handle extreme tension. They weren't built too, and can and do bend under big tension.
mdizzle: It says the Arayas are 520 bead seat diameter compared to the 507 of mtb rims or the bigger 540ish of other rarer 24" road rims.
Dicki: I have no idea. I've no personal interest in 650c Deep Vs. Best thing is to give the shop a bell and some one can tell ya. 0207 033 9053

thats fine then...as you were...nothing to worry about then!
-
• #16
Well if they have to be stiff to the max...
-
• #17
Harry - it would be 117 bucks (roughly £35 a pop, plus any customs) incl shipping to buy two of the arayas from benscycles vs 87 bucks for 1
Might be interested in one, just in case I keep you-know-what - let me know if you're gonna grab one as i might be down with that
-
• #18
Thats not a bad price you know. Customs won't be more then £15 I wouldn't think.
Hmm.You gonna keep it?
-
• #19
i'm in two minds, half the problem is that i don't have a 24" wheel to put on it, so can't really work out how the geometry is gonna fit me!
EDIT: oh and if there are any others out there silly enough to also need one, they have more in stock...
-
• #20
Harry, did you pull the trigger on teh Olmo?
-
• #21
Yes.
Yes I did.
Paid this afternoon.Ordinarily I wouldn't even think of fixed wheel conversion. BUT. I really fucking like that Olmo. And I only need one geared project.

So I just bought a lo-pro with a 24" front. And before I go special order a crappy Velocity Aerohead I was wondering if any one had one for sale, or knew of any others out there on the market.
I need silver, or summit painted that can be stripped. Non machined preferred. Any hole numbers considered. 32 would be ideal.
