I think we should all shower our thanks on Dancing James, clearly he is performing a public service for the cycling community. Without question all the dangerous psychos seem to be drawn to him like moths to a candle, this of course leaves the rest of us safer so long as we take a different route.
Dancing James, OBE for services to safer cycling.
I thank you.
PS: I am still in awe of the key thing.

Take the drivers reg and then plot a plan to get back at them when they are unsuspecting and don't know who would have done it.
This fits well with the revenge is a dish best served cold but watch out as before setting out on revenge always dig two graves. In for a penny once in cliche mode.
On the other hand it is unlikely you would ever actually do anything with the reg number once you had calmed down so better result for everyone!

Am assuming that Car-son is either a troll from a car forum or an imbecile
Tautology surely?

+1. James should have been in the middle of the lane, to avoid the ice and/or the prospect of having the van inches to his right while potentially riding over ice in the carriageway.
Irrespective of weather middle lane positioning is something he was taught to do on his cycle training because it's safer.
Criticising him for doing so is objectively quite stupid and shows a lack of understanding at best.
Carson's statement was utterly idiotic and demonstrates a lack of understanding of best practice cycling.

Rode down it today at 8:20am, it was fine. I also, refrained from getting in a fight.

I'm with you on this DJ.. All the way. I don't shout and swear as much as I used to and tend to just ignore the hooting of frustrated motor vehicles. But if someone is driving like a cunt I for one am not going to be meek and mild about it. I'm on a bike ffs! If a driver can't cut me some slack he can fuck right off. I don't have a horn. I just have one large gob.. And will use it accordingly.

the problem with drivers is alot of them just don't understand. So, you're rolling in the middle of the road to avoid the ice and not put your life in danger. Drivers don't see the ice on the side of the road, they see a human operated machine that's invaded 'their' space on the road. If we can get on the left hand side, near the curb, then we will! People driving in cities don't seem to understand that their driving in a place which is congested to fuck, so having to slow to 10-20mph for a cyclist for a small amount of time isn't going to affect their journey too.
I hate to say it, but i think the only way to make sure you don't run the risk of getting in a fight with a van driving cunt, is to just shut up and contain your rage. However, I dont see anyone actually learning from their mistakes if nothing is said....I personally do shout at people, but i've just been very lucky so far...this is all coming from a very keen driver too! -

if you cant ride safely without obstructing trafic you shouldnt be on the road?
shut up -

Jeez
A compulsory cycling test before you can apply for a driving license might be a good idea.
But then perhaps there should be one for peds too....
You can see the consequences of going down this slippery slope.

Once on the road you are a part of traffic. It wouldn't happen if it were, say, a de-icer truck pootling along at a similar speed to DJ.

That just because there's another loud and angry cyclist it doesn't justify you being one. The van driver may well have been an idiot but your thread title doesn't say anything about that, instead it implies that as there's another cyclist who launches into a torrent of abuse everything is OK with your doing so.
My view is simples: If you take a weapon with you, it's no surprise if you use it. Meaning that if you take anger and aggression to the road, it's no surprise at all to find anger and aggression out on the road.
I've no doubt that of this stuff happens, what is telling is the way people choose to handle the situation. I'm not a believer in escalating the incident if it can be avoided at all.
Whilst I agree with your sentiment I've had a 17 Stone white Millwall supporting racist bangin' the horn in a super aggressive way, then move on to verbal abuse, only to jump out then start throwing punches my way. (I didn't say a word). When you're forced to interact with 'people' like this it is totally forgivable that some may instinctively fight fire with fire.
I'll say it again, these people are bullies and often shut the fuck up when a punch is thrown back.

Do you pay road tax, eh!

road tax is a canard. Folk that work and use Oyster cards pay for road maintenance.

i have no problem with swearing on message boards, but does anyone else think that casual threats of rape are about as appropriate as casually mentioning that you don't think niggers are very good drivers?
Surely, the correct generalisation is that the racial group mentioned above are very good at rapping, have rhythm and enjoy dancing, wear baggy jeans and are prone to bouts of robbery.
I agree by the way and don't think anything I've posted above is remotely funny or in good taste but 'this is the internet, blah, blah, blah'
