You're going to ride around with a race number on? Sicko
"As with most of the European teams, CSC uses a number holder that mounts via the rear brake’s fixing bolt. The version CSC uses is aluminum"

It was more that I would not ride around without water bottle cage bolts in due to not wanting to give water and so forth an easy way of entering the frame.
However now that you have suggested it I may have to make up a race number to put on also.

This is the bolt hole- on the under side of the top tube:

Threaded headset which means at that vintage it's clearly meant to be used for some kind of kerosene lamp, not a race number.

It used to belong to some chap called Marcel Duijn- with that name I suspect him of being a foreign, so who knows what he attached there.
I think it was a race number, so that's what I'm going to put there.

Oh a weirdo Frenchie or Belgie or Dutchie or something. It's obviously a baguette holder.

Pancake holder if we are basing it on nationality I think.

Just stick an M5x10 button head screw in there and forget about it.

That's just giving up.

Make it a titanium one then.

I did screw a water bottle bolt in, but it would only go in approx 5mm, maybe slightly more, so a normal bolt will not do.

Ask the nice man behind the counter for a 'special' bolt then.

Which counter would have a nice man behind it who could vend me a race number holding bolt?

*Still *giving up.

Get Dremel out, Chop the longer bolt down.
-
• #23
Fair enough- that will seal the hole.
I'd like to use the correct bolt however.

My new frame has provision for a race number to be attached to the frame- essentially a bottle cage holder thread under the top tube toward the front of the bike which takes a specific bolt.
Sadly the frame came with no such bolt/holder, and I'd like to get one.
Where would people recommend that I look for such a thing?
