  • Thanks, but I'd like just a pdf posted here if poss.

  • let's see pics, or it never happened.

  • are there any knitters?

another thread has got me into thinking that there is something missing in my life.

Me, not really... but Mrs.Nuknow is a (professional! :D) knitter.
By hand, coming from Scotland, machine - Made in Clapton. I've got the hardwear.
Can only start really taking on any 'projects' in about 2 months... but it's worth the wait, the result is really nice. Depending on what to do,i.e: a jumper would take on like 2 weeks of work).

  • Some samples

  • ^ is that by hand or machine?

  • Machine.

  • Hi Guys, i need some assistance.

How do i 'mend' the sleeves on my summer jersey (the shark pits)? Anyone know? Is it as simple as cutting it and adding a triangle of similar material? Where would i get this material from?!?!

Or are there other methods to expand the sleeves?

  • Get a bigger size.

  • then the waist is too big like as in i could smuggle a small mexican into america and not be noticed... plus you cant get the LFGSS jersey anymore :-(

  • ok so if you want to do it proper like you have to add a kite shaped piece of fabric - two points of which touch the armhole and the top and bottom points join the shoulder and side seams.

it is nicer if the 'kite' is a softer shape like this

  • stop pumpin' iron

  • I'm moving house and no longer have space for the sewing machine i aqcuired this year, a great little Singer, that folds into a table. Anyone interested?

Would have to be pickup from Brighton or Manchester, or Chingford at a push

  • How much?

Oh, I think I may have miss lead you, I need the whole sleeve expanded as in the opening is to tight and is to tight up the sleeve to the shoulder.

The problem is arms are bulky non cyclist arms.

  • I'm on the left with the tight arms- seewww.lfgss.com/post2238362-623.html issue- too tight

  • Just expand the 'gusset' in the diagram above so that it goes along the seam of the sleeve as well. Get a second hand jersey in a contrasting colour and cut the insert from that. Easy!

  • stop pumpin' iron

This ^. It's not like it's helping you get chicks either! :P

  • i dont disagree there Andy... It doesnt get me the chicks...

And i really dont like the phrase: pumping iron... Such bad associations...

  • Anyone here tried making a quilt before? I've got quite a bit of free time on my hands at the moment, so wanna give one a try. Any advice?

  • American patch work quilts take years...

My mum makes them and it is literally years. Shes making one now for when i someday get married. I dont even have a partner yet.

  • Was gonna make a small simple one, more for the making than to come out wiht a big practical quilt. Simple suqare grid patterns can't take that long surely? Maybe i'll keep you posted

  • not saying you cant :-) Just adding my 2p worth of useless info on the subject. absolute useless information.

it's gonna get bloody massive then :)

  • i asked for a kingsize with massive overhang so that i have more time and lots of detailing..

Funnily she has decided very sweetly to drop the whites because she knows its going to be covered in bicycle grease :-)

    I love my mom

  • go to your local library, they will have quilting books. don't do all squares, you don't get a nice pattern. actually, bet someone's put the traditional patterns online... A little quilt won't take that long, you could make table mats or a cushion cover or something...
