  • I think its fine to rub salt in those wounds, she cant use that for acting like an irresponsible bitch.

If she isnt in mentally capable of driving safely she shouldnt be on the road.

  • I was tempted to ask if she had run her son over

but for once I filtered myself

  • Im sure that dented your pride.

  • Just want to say to anyone here that ollie Jeffcott of Lfgss is a little wonder.

The drivers insurance company have accepted full liability.

Ufrasia is off to meet Ollie today to discuss her chiswick incident later today.

So if you get hit drop ollie a pm!

  • Drinks on are on DJ....

  • I'll have a Guinness...

  • Huge props to Ollie

Just got notice of my interim payment - there will be more to come

At least it covers the bulk of the rest of my Mather payment

And i can put in the order for a new Serrota fork for the bike too

    Hi James

I am pleased to say that the Defendants have agreed to increase the general interim payment up to £1,500.

They should be sending the payment though in the next 7 days and I will let you know as soon as we receive the cheque.

    Kind regards

    Oliver Jeffcott

  • Cheers DJ!

  • Sorry to hear about this james. heal up fast

  • In UCH they have adverts up for ambulance chasers and malpractice lawyers, couldn't believe it.

  • Ha. Good work.

  • Bump.

Need an ambulance chaser right now. Will write up on incident in 'rider down' thread later, but generally uninjured personally*, while bike's a complete write off.
Drunk driver way over the limit. Police very helpful.

Is this Oliver Jeffcot still the recommendation of choice for the forum? Can someone PM me his contact details? I am hard up with cash so someone that doesn't take money up front would be best. Other recommendations?

Can someone who has dealt with ambulance chasers in the past please PM me with their phone number? A quick 5 minute chat could help me immensely. A salient point here is how back and neck injuries are presented/dealt with in the correct way legally.

*pending medical exam in the morning.

  • Oh, and a second question, (which I know has sort of been on the forum before) is how to claim the value of a fixed gear bike put together from loads of different parts, with the vintage frame being out of production for decades.

I have kept all relevant receipts and invoices for theft insurance purposes, but would not like the amount of the compensation to be limited the sum of these receipts. There are labour costs, price increases etc etc to consider, so don't see the need to go easy on the insurance company.

How to put together and back up sum I will present to driver's insurance company?

  • best to read through here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread4213.html

if you're a member of the LCC, they have some solicitors, but there are a number around who are cycle friendly.

    good luck.

  • starfish and coffee, take the bike to a reputable bicycle shop and ask them to valid the bicycle.

    This is he - ojeffcott

  • Thanks for all help so far. This forum just keeps on giving!

Just got off the phone with Oliver Jeffcott who specialises in cycle cases. Top bloke. Will meet him in his office this Monday.

Also been past Brick Lane Bikes, where Harry Major (a great chap and also on this forum) will write up an assessment and cost of my damaged bike. They charge £25 for this service, but if you spend the compensation dosh with them, they take that £25 off the price of bike/parts. Good service, much better than faffing about with 30+ different receipts.

Doctors appointment coming up later on today.

Remember to take pictures of the injuries over the coming week. Often bruising does not show itself immediately, and well worth taking some snaps, to have on file as the case progresses.

  • A brief update so that I can recommend Oliver Jeffcott to others on the forum. It was a grim few months until I got the checque, but Oliver's patience and dedication helped loads.

Hopefully it will never happen to you, but should you experience an accident get in touch with Oliver ASAP. And as edscoble recommended above, let an independent bike shop do the valuation for you, they have your interest at heart.

  • Worth to bump the thread.
    Good work, Olie.

  • Thanks guys - much appreciated and always happy to help / give advice where needed.

In case anyone is interested, here is my blog on cycling law:

  • Ha, nice parallelism to 'The Cycling Silk'.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that yet, will get reading.

  • jezus...this thread...

  • great blog

    good work

  • Sounds like some good work going on out there - suprised BLB charged 25 quid to do a valuation, i would have thought most places would do this for free, non?
