2009-11-02 - Rider Down, junction of Shirland Road and Sutherland Avenue, Maida Vale

Just saw, I think, a dead body at the junction of Shirland Road and Sutherland Avenue, near Warwick Avenue tube. There were two police cars, about five gawkers, no actual witnesses, and I was moved along as the ambulance arrived. The man was lying on his back deadly still with his eyes closed. No obvious injury, but he looked dead. His bike, a basic mountain bike taped up in red, was about 7 feet or so away from him.

Has anyone heard anything?

Fuck! thats right round the corner from my flat, I ride that junction every day, its always relatively quiet.

People do rag their cars there though. I've seen people ignore the red lights there several times.

The police hadn't pulled someone over, so either they had hit him, or it had been a hit and run, or he'd been shot off his bike. The police didn't seem to be resuscitating him or doing anything whatsoever; he was lying down, and they were just milling about.

Hope he's OK.

that's right near dmczone's manor. you can build up quite a bit of speed on sutherland ave, it's like elgin avenue. my guess is one of them ran a light.

I'm 2 minutes from there as is Mullerbugs.

Shit, thats why i take abbey road these days. Not that its that much better.
