  • I feared as much. Not only have Dell pulled out of the market, but they offer no aftercare support or software updates.

I'd suggest a community build but the only guy working on ICS for Dells is doing the Streak 7 first. The Streak 5 also has more unusual hardware inside than the 7, so there's a lot more work to be done around drivers too.

I can live with how the phone is until I upgrade in November. Just annoying that the phone has so much more potential than Dell supports.

  • Yes, I'm relieved that Samsung is making more of an effort nowadays, especially as they took on Cyanogen himself as a member of staff 6 months ago. Orange however have been slow to release builds and my own handset would never have been updated at all if I hadn't gone off-piste.

  • finally got round to sticking a more recent ics build on my galaxy s, all good so far

  • My HTC Desire bought late 2010 decided to stop charging.

I bought it contract free from Amazon who incredibly have said just return it and we'll give you a full refund.

It's been sent back so now I need a new Android phone. So any recommendations for when they refund me?

I've been using the £2.99 Nokia phone that I bought as a temporary replacement for a while now - in a way it is awesome - I charge it once every 2 weeks!

    TeamHacksung Build 15?

  • MWC 2012 will be at the end of February so you could see what shiny new devices are revealed then, although the GalaxyS 3 won't be one of them.

  • shit tits, i flashed 14, must of done it moments before 15 arrived, duno if I can be arsed to do another, have you done any non-wipe flashing of them?

  • just clicked wrong links, cos I'm thick

  • So, I'm getting a Samsung Galaxy S2 from T Mobile tomorrow to replace my Wildfire (Flashed to death). I'm going to be semi brave and root it pretty much straight away but not flash a custom rom just yet. What bloatware should I freeze with titanium to make it better without disabling pretty much all other functionality? From experience T Mobile seem to put more shit on there than anyone else and I've just rooted and flashed to get rid of it in the past. I kind of want to leave this one standard for a little while just in case I have to return it for any reason but if I can't freeze enough of the bloat I will flash hacksung.

I'm finding XDA a bit heavy going on this subject as some of it seems to cross over with the US T Mobile bits so I was hoping someone might have done this on here.

  • need help, my samsung gs2 , the gallery has gone in some stupid mode and i can't revert it back????
    any ideas?

    no one?

  • Sorry murts, no idea. Any more info on the stupid mode?

  • A couple of weeks ago, mrs mashton wanted to use our laptop in the evening when I was already on it. "We need another one" she grumbled.

Leave idea to percolate, then send a speculative link to Transformer Prime, saying "look at this it's a tablet AND a spare laptop". Sprinkle with a comment over dinner and hey presto, she is on the brink of ordering us one.

    Woot.

  • it has seperated everything by dates, and includes profile pictures??
then it seems it has to download pictures?
not sure if i have linked to something???

  • The date sorting thing is when you click on the little button in the top right corner. The downloading thing may be that it is now grabbing pics from picasa. This may be because a) you have recently linked to a google account with picasa or b) upraded your gallery app.

Check in your accounts syncing settings to see if you have picasa sync turned on.

  • no one?

Download QuickPic - so much better than the stock app

  • I had about 75% battery when i went to bed, plenty to get it through the night (and today as well) normally. When i woke up, the battery was totally flat and 4 of my apps were uninstalled. anyone know wtf happened?

  • brilliant, simple solution. thanks

    You are sleep phoning.

  • You are sleep phoning.

i do wonder, i am a very heavy sleeper. But it in a very strange position, and when i woke it hadn't moved. maybe there was some kind of update that drained it in the night because i didn't leave the wifi on

Either get your phone from Carphonewarehouse, which means the phone is unlocked anyway, or order the phone with the T-Mobile contract, but an unlocked handset....... as you need it for travelling abroad. I am with T-Mobile and got this done through FoneHouse. They had to order the phone in, but it was totally unlocked when it arrived.

No bloatware if it's an unlocked handset. Hope that helps.

  • Unfortunately it's coming from them direct as I got a very good deal after complaining about having my last phone replaced by a Wildfire which I've claimed to be useless (They don't need to know it's running fine on CM7). I'm definitely going to have to root it, I was just intrigued to know if titanium can freeze enough of the bloat for me to still use the stock OS. Until I get bored at least.

  • i think my samsung gs2's lcd is stuffed. started off the size of 5p coin, i get a slight tint with a slight green/yellow halo border on the top right part of the screen. two weeks on, it has now spread covering two thirds of the screen.

it's noticeable on predominantly black or white screens and pics and sites appear dull. ive read that it's a 'burn-in' and happens on AMOLED screens. occurs when a part of the screen is exposed to bright inactive light for long periods. but i constantly have the screen brightness to lowest setting. anyone else experienced this problem?

  • Burn in is more like seeing the silhouette of the keyboard, this looks more like an actual defect. (IANAL)
