Samsung II or Desire HD? (For me)
The Samsung Galaxy S II is a whole world ahead of the (admittedly impressive) HTC Desire HD.
Galaxy S II = Dual core; Faster, better display, 1080 video.
Desire HD = Single core; 720 video. You can definitely say I won't be getting another Sony phone after this.
Thats fair enough, as you really were never happy with the slow updates, and other issues.
That said, the Xperia Arc would be a match for the HTC Desire HD, if not a bit better.
But thats just statistics, and not meant to change your mind in any way. -

Brickman says to stay clear of samsung products, although boyf is on samsung europa, and already has offical 2.3 within 2/3months of getting the handset.

I use Pulse for various feed aggregations, including dilbert and xkcd. Sweet interface but a rubbish pinch zoom implementation. YMMV.

Definitely the Samsung Galaxy S II over the HTC Desire HD, without a doubt.
But the HTC Sensation may also be worth a look.

Thank you for the heads up guys.

No. It suffers from the Apple_Grip_of_Death=No_reception syndrome. Though it appears that there might be more than one version of the HTC Sensation.

^ This is worrying, I'm holding out for this phone...

My Sensation and the wife's Desire S behave exactly the same with a '1 bar' drop in wi-fi signal if held landscape with hand wrapped around the top of the phone.
Net effect on browsing and download speed, fuck all.
Galaxy SII feels like a flimsy, flexy piece of shit in your hand. I dropped my Sensation from chest height onto concrete within an hour of opening the fucking box like a twat and am happy to report it's nails.

And it boots to call ready in 11 seconds flat.

A new kid arriving on the block is the Orange Monte Carlo (a rebadged ZTE Skate). It will be released with the Gingerbread OS, and I'm certain Modaco and other devs will have this fully unlocked in moments. I personally think this would make a great back-up phone, or a replacement phone, or just for those on a budget. It will have an 800Mhz chip, and a 4.3 inch screen. Its said to be a cheaper version of the HTC Desire HD. Pretty impressive to be compared with such an excellent phone. It should be on pay-as-you-go from around £100. It promises to be a really good follow-up to the very well regarded Orange San Francisco.

Wow, that's pretty spectacular. Even so, I just tried it on my own Sensation and got it to drop one bar of Wi-Fi. So it looks like I got one of the good ones.
FWIW, I really like my Sensation, and have very few complaints.

there's one called' fast dilbert reader' seems to work ok, but can't figure if it can collect them for future ref.
^ ouch to above experiences, especially melting plug.
Anyone use a comic reader app on Android? Looking for a trusted app to aggregate dilbert, xkcd, yehuda etc for those times I'm just sitting about looking for something to read...

HUGE comparitive review of Galaxy SII vs Sensation (the most indepth I've ever seen actually).

It seems that the HTC Sensation could be the better made, and have better battery performance.
But the Galaxy SII rules the performance parameters. -

after years on the iphone GS2 does look and feel flimsy. Yet to drop it but it is a lot lighter than every other phone out there so I'm guessing it won't go down as hard.
impressed with it so far.

I think I'm going to wait until Dec/Jan. The phones at the moment isn't enough to make me want any of the models so bad.
Even though Vodafone is offering me an early upgrade months before my contract finishes (gotta be a catch there), I'm still going to jump over to o2 as it has better coverage for the area I'm moving to.Thank you for your help guys though :)
1+ looking for similar app.
