It maybe easier to swap your rear cog. I know its a pain with the locking ring, but opens the search up because of the aesthetics of the ring and bcd of poeples cranks. Just a suggestion.

nice one neilp, I have a 17t rear and a 44t chainring, the 'magic' combinations I can fit are:
53x14, 43x13, 45x15, 47x17, 49x19so im open to suggestions, seems difficult to get hold of a 135mm 1/8 ring because i think most track bcd is 144mm, dont really want to go with 3/32 if i dont have to

No worry's. If your willing to run a very slightly lower GI then you could ask for a 15T rear. then you could run with the 44T you already have. You may loose maybe 2 inches top's. Just a thought to make it easy for you. Im not sure because the skid patch calculator i used wasnt as good as the one someone had previous posted else where but 44/15t may be a better ration for wear. I would check that though

thats actually a good call, but will it not be too slack if i go one tooth smaller on the chain side with 44x15, i guess its suck it and see, nothing to lose.
So now looking for a 15t rear cog in exchange for my 17t Andel which is brand new, its been fitted but never used, or if anyone has a 15t 1/8 for sale??

have you tried using a half link? in my experience they're great for this sort of problem.
Crows
Stallionlegs
Hope someone can help with a trade off to finally get my problem fixed on the road.
So my headache can be over if someone comes up trumps and wants my TA Specialites 1/8 44t 135mm 5bolt chain ring in pretty good condish, not much wear in exchange for.....
1/8 135mm 5bolt 47t in similar state but i'll probably take a shagged one right now to get the chain on!
