I've got little to no idea tbh, I go to California for work, this is the first time I'll have a weekend/opportunity to ride.
All routes etc that people put forward I will very gladly accept.

Sorry for the x post from Mack Hubs thread...:
Does anyone know if it's possible to order spares for Mack hubs from the man himself or do I have to go through a dealer?

Any recommendations for suitable AAA batteries for a walkie talkie?
Thinking Energizer Ultimate Lithium.
Wrong choice? Anything more suitable?
Cheers

Energizer Ultimate Lithium.
Wrong choice?
Right choice, for pretty much every AA/AAA primary cell or PP3 primary battery application. So many advantages over alkaline, including lower specific cost in most cases.

Rechargeable not an option?

Can an 11spd chain run on a 6speed cassette?
-
• #84661
I'm running a 10 on a 7, probably destroying it. 11 is even more narrow, no?
-
• #84662
You might get away with it but unlikely.

Getting fed up with lugging bikes around in the boot of the car with/without seats down (not to mention there being the slight inconvenience of 2 kids in the car too). Anyone got a good suggestion for roof bar rack or rear rack to take 3 bikes, which will be expanded to 4 when micro c00ps gets big enough for two wheels?
(for a Ford Focus estate. if that makes a difference - no tow bar or roof bars, yet)

Taking ibuprofen to rid myself of muscle inflammation. Internet tells me 800mg, three times a day for that.
That seems super high to me. Any one know different?
-

If you don't want to go to your GP then err on caution.
Go to a pharmacy, ask for the stronger stuff (400mg or whatever they have) and take three times a day. Ibuprofen is marginally less hazardous than Paracetamol over extended periods but try to stick to lower doses unless symptoms persist.
What muscles? Is there physio to aid recovery?
Remember that it'll take a few days or a week to really notice the difference, but if it persists then you need a specialist not the forum experts.

11 is even more narrow
Only on the outside

Can an 11spd chain run on a 6speed cassette?
Maybe. Measure the sprocket thickness, anything over 2.1mm is likely to cause problems.

Roofbars for two and rear rack for two then you don't have to struggle with getting more than two bikes on the roof. Or get a towbar mounted rack and/or an Erde trailer with bike racks on top. Then get a tent and three dogs and the bitter taste of regret that you're now middle aged.

cheers, 400mg three times per day sounds a little more reasonable.
It's for my knee - I've been to the physio already (and have another appmnt this week) and i'm doing stretches, foam rolling and glute exercises, as well as nightly massages from wife but have been told that an NSAID (such as ibuprofen) will be helpful too.

So with friction it could work, but indexed may be poor...?
-
• #84671
Ah yea then they probably mean stick to pedestrian doses and placebos. You can't 'overdose' on it*, and it will take months/years for negative effects on your organs - our contemporary lifestyle puts more of a strain on those organs than a NSAID anyway.
(*you can, but not easily and not like with other forms of drugs)
Go for 400's for two weeks and if there's no improvement double the dose for a week to see if it helps. Reality is after one month you shouldn't need to continue use unless it is a really bad long term injury.

FWIW the forum doctor suggested to me last summer that NSAIDs are not a good idea; as the inflammation is part of the healing process so you should just let it happen unless its seriously impacting your ability to do things

Confronted that when I lost my hair.
I had a funny feeling it wasn't an either/or question! Any model recommendations?

Normally I wouldn't be bothered but I've got the Transcontinental in a few weeks and really really need this to heal up as soon as possible.

Try to take the ibuprofen with food, can mess with stomach and cause ulcers if you're taking a lot for an extended period.
