  • Sounds reasonable.

  • Uniform radial compression needs uniform circumferential tension.

  • I have a US -> EU shipping question here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread117326.html

But since this thread is very popular, I am spamming here too, in the hope I might get some answers... Thanks

  • mdcc_tester thank you, that is a good answer. I will find a non-offset seat clamp

    ouroboros: check your topic.

  • WTF happened in the Lynchtwat thread?!

  • What would a 12month old Planet X Nanolight frame likely go for?

  • Someone got all racist about the cost of BB refitting, went a bit crazy and then pretended to be dead. I think it's catching.

  • Uniform radial compression needs uniform circumferential tension.

    yay I was right..!

  • Just got a new frame, apparently its english threading and so is the bb.
Ive just installed the drive side of this bottom bracket but theres a small but very noticeable gap, tried looking but its such a specific thing that I can't find an adequate answer.
Is it user error? bottom bracket shell deformed or badly faced?

Ive tried taking it on and off making sure its aligned properly but not luck..
    Someone please help me!!!! ARRRGGHHHH!!

  • Get the threads chased, should go in all the way then. Dont bother with facing.

  • May be cross-threaded, seems the gap is bigger on one side.

  • Thanks for the quick response, how much would this normally cost?
Will ring a few of my locals tomorrow morning and see if they can do it

  • Chase & face is usually £10-£20, depending on the shop.

  • Or free if you have a good relationship with LBS.

  • Maybe even £25.

  • Maybe even £25.

    Chase and face?
    Does your LBS hate you?

  • from the photos it appears that each side may have had its thread cut independently, if so no amount of facing and chasing will correct the angular misalingment, and you may have an unusable frame, soz :(

remedial actions include: new bb shell; ream out and resin bond a bb insert into the shell; non-threaded bb; take the frame back for a refund

  • Or a Rotor SABB, which has spherical bearing inserts to cope with just such an issue

  • good catch mdcc

  • Many thanks for all your help, photos are confusing but its just one side turned upside down to show how one side lays flat and the other doesnt, not both side of the bb.
I just got quoted £30 by one of my locals, and £10 by another...
I think the frame is fucked with more dents than the seller said and a small ripple near the head lugs.
Its a shame because I really like the frame and it woulda fit me perfectly.....

That alone mean the frame is fucked already, and required an expensive repair.

Sound like the previous owner was involved in a collision and tried to recoup the cost by selling it on.

  • a small ripple near the head lugs.

    Refund.

  • I should say a very small ripple, probably ridable but still even still..
It was bought off ebay in august, then sold from someone with a pretty decent reputation. 56 x 53 is hard to come by...

ugh fuck my life right now.

  • Anyone know the RAL code for the Rapha pink?
