  • Literally moved into London this week, Notting Hill. Where can I buy some freshly roasted coffee beans?

Not a fan of them, was hoping for a roaster.

    Monmouth

Probably better to ask in this thread

http://www.coffee.uk.com/ They're on portobello road so walking distance.

  • Anyone on here used a Tree Surgeon before?

Any questions I need to ask/things I need to know or make sure of?

  • Go see them doing a job in someone elses garden. Just go watch and see how good they are at their job.

I had some two big trees removed recently which were growing up against brick walls and making them collapse. They also hung over my fragile shed. I was thinking it would be impossible for them to get tree down without either destroying shed or walls, and that they would need fancy cranes and what not.

But no, they got ride of both trees in a couple hours with everything intact. Remarkable to see.

  • I have a rattle when riding on bumpy ground and i can' for the life of my figure out where its coming from..

Seatpost bolt is tight, the bb and cranks dont have any play other than chain looseness
Its fixed so no deraileurs, front brake is tight, handlebars don't move.

Only think i can think of is the chains rattling against something?

Any number of things. Valve nuts loose rattling on rim, or no valve nuts causing valve to rattle against the rim. Headset loose, pedal bearings worn, loose spokes, loose toe clips, bottle cage nuts, chainring bolts...

Not sure what you mean by front brake tight. Check for loose lever or caliper nut not tight in the forks.

Thanks. Can you recommend someone who can do the job for me? I need a 50ft tree removed as it wasn't planned (dropped cherry stone I think) and its now damaging the paths and garden buildings.

  • I can recommend a couple of good tree surgeons in Buckinghamshire if that helps.

FYI: a good tree surgeon will always check with your local council to see if you need planning permission to fell a tree. You should also do this as you are technically responsible if a protected tree is felled, not the person you pay to do it. If you are in a conservation zone you may have to get "creative" if you want rid.

  • isn't someone on here a london tree surgeon? there's a thread for forumenger skills etc somewhere....

EDIT: edmundro was a tree surgeon. pm him?

  • I'm not sure I have guts any more. I'm hungry but the thought of food makes me really queasy.

Moral of the story - if it's fizzy but not carbonated, don't eat it. I also ate mouldy bread, I'm guessing that didn't help so my advice would be to leave that alone too...

Hats, if this is what you call a holiday I'd hate to see what you do for work

brake lever/caliper springs and bit of crap in the frame are the sneaky ones.

  • brake lever/caliper springs and bit of crap in the frame are the sneaky ones.

thinking maybe the latter as its silent when rocking the bike on the front break and when spinning the cranks/rear off the ground..

  • how loud is it? unless someone has hidden a pebble in there, or your bike belonged to a smuggler and it's packed with miniature bottles of whiskey, it will only be the faintest of tinkles.

  • Oc second thoughts its really just when i go over unever, not smooth road so i'm back to square one, keep trying to convince myself its just noise from bumpy riding but i really dont think its that simple, have pulled chain tighter, will test again tomrrow

  • If it's a light, tiny sounding rattle its probable a bit of flux inside your frame. It will go in time.

  • I developed a rash on my ass from the sweat that builds up in the pad of my bibs.
    will chamois cream prevent that?

  • you could try washing the bibs you filthy scoundrel!

  • i do change them every day but I use them twice daily with a break between.

  • Washing your bum more than every birthday helps to

  • or at least having an analinguist close to hand

  • When I log into a remote server via ssh, everything I type is in cyrillic letters - How do I make it use western letters again?

Google has failed me, so now I'm asking a forum of cyclists.

You are and I claim my £5.

  • where can I buy crank bolts and dust caps for modern campag record pista cranks?
or, as they're likely to be ridiculously priced if available, do Royce crankbolts fit flush instead?

  • Monmouth
