My 4-year-old niece is getting a junior spacehopper. I reckon this will be at least as comedy as the in the night garden rollerskates I got her last Christmas.

If something has no relation to something else, does it:
"bear no relation to..."
or
"bare no relation to..."I'm stuck in a dyslexic confusion between Carnivorous and naked relations...

bear is what you want.
bare is just an adjective meaning not covered or basic (the house was bare), and also the verb related to this - to uncover (she bared her arse)
bear is a verb meaning to carry, support, endure etc. this is the one you want (x bears no relation to y).
there is also another word, bear, spelled the same way but a noun, which is the animal (bears like honey and are cuddly).

Of all the toys I remembered, it's always legos, the fact you can build whatever you want hooked me into it.
Legos FTW.

^^ Thats what I thought but a post on my FB wall saying that to my mind "swedish spelling bears no relation to pronunciation" elicited mental pictures of beautiful blonde Ursids at a spelling bee.

from apple dictionary: "bear a relation (or relationship ) - to be logically consistent with: the map didn't seem to bear any relation to the roads."
so you can have correct grammar and still fantasise about gorgeous scandinavian mammals with claws and snouts (sicko)

By the way, this book is lovely! Something you will keep to pass on to your kids.

Awesome idea, thanks!
...Now just to find somewhere in London that sells them.
My mischievous side want to find something she will love but will cause untold damage and headaches for her folks and/or grandparents.

You should be able to find it in any good book shop (not sure about supermarkets). I've found one in Woodford Green.
There's also Aladin one and "Alice in Wonderland". These are simple pop up book, but beautifully illustrated and with sounds. Not sure if 3yo will appreciate it. My 4yo does.
You can also get loads of smaller useful stuff like crayons, special infant felt tips, play dough - especially themed one.
They also like those fabric vegetables, food ingredients, ice cream and cake sets from Ikea. -

I mean the spacehopper ;)
But the book sounds great, so I'm calling Waterstones now.
Cheers for all the help.

Do it tonight.
Loads of people will have left London, be out on the piss, or hung over from last night.
Westfields closes at 10pm I think.
Tomorrow will be hell. Especially if you are a guy trying to buy anything for girls.

Spacehopper is bit suicidal for a 3yo...
Most lack the proper co-ordination until they're 5-6. -

Well I wanted to put the idea that's she's mature for her age to the test.

Nah, I'm working tomorrow, was asking so I can prepare myself for a barrage. I don't live in London, but thanks anyway.

I spent 12 months working on improving my endurance for the Cumbria ride and then after that was out of the way got bored with slow long rides. I decided to spend the next few months doing speed work. The transition was tricky, painful and initially quite demoralising but has paid dividends. I am a faster rider now than I was in July.
Having sworn to never do anything like 377 hilly miles in 3 days I have now pledged to do 830 mountainous miles in 8 days. This means I will be going back to endurance training very soon.
What physiological effects can I expect? I stopped strength training a few months back and have lost 12 pounds in muscle mass since then. I assume my ability to store glycogen will have been badly affected since August (took a month off training in July due to injury)...is this likely to be the case?
Is there any truth to the common theory that it'll be easier for me to build it up the second time round?

No idea, what I can tell you being 20kg lighter made climbing so much easier and the heavy steel bike oddly felt a lots more responsive, eating the miles has gotten a lots easier and I'm practically a stick insect right now.
As for my glycogen storage, I'm fucked if I know, maybe talk to Scherrit of bike whisperer? I reckon you'll need someone like him to back you, like how he helped hippy on his 24hr TT.

Oh yes, for once in my life, no more fucking saddle sore!!! Get in!!
-
• #22445
Lolz. Cheers Ed but I'm not really worried about my hill climbing, just about general endurance.
I'm seeing Scherrit for a bike and cleat fit in the new year.

Constant uphill.

Dan, get a Lo Pro to even out the hills.
-
• #22448
You thinking I'm riding the hills? I'm buying a metric-fuck-ton of dynamite and blasting a flat route! The Canadians won't mind.

Music to my (what left of) ear-hole, that'll make a considerable difference.

I still haven't got the feeling back in my left ring finger from July so I have learned my lesson.

Does your credit card not have to registered to a US address to buy from Enve's shop?
That is the usual way of keeping things local/cheap/untaxed.
