  • Great! Thanks @ everyone who knows henry.

  • Dr Stuart's valerian plus tea seems to have been discontinued. Any ideas of where to get other potent valerian tea?

  • I have one heating zone which keeps coming on. I had thought it was the actuator failing to turn off but replaced it today and the zone is clearly being triggered to come on by something other than the thermostat.

How can I find out what is interfering with the wireless (but not smart/wifi) thermostat communicating with wiring centre on the heating manifold. I now think there is some device emitting a signal which the wiring centre is assuming is a turn on signal for this one zone.

The problem is our house is full of gadgets, smartthings devices etc so I assume the airwaves are a little busy.

  • I have just tried assigning the thermostat to an unused zone on the wiring centre and connected the actuator to that zone. Fingers crossed…

That's not really a concern. The actual timeslot used by a device to talk to something else is so vanishingly small that there's plenty of space in the time dimension. That's not even taking into account that the communications are spread across a bunch of different frequencies that don't really interfere with each other.

I can still use my mobile phone in a stadium with 40,000 people who also have phones. (It used to be shit with 3G and 4G but 5G means it actually works now.)

In your case it's almost certainly something misconfigured or malfunctioning.

  • It's pretty unlikely that it's going to be getting a random signal causing it to turn on. If you have another zone then I'd be looking at whether the two have somehow become linked.

Thnings like microwaves interfere with the signal but that's just going to corrupt/block it rather than turn it on.

  • Is using contactless for Paddington to Reading return on the train going to be the same price as buying a ticket?

  • No, contactless is cheaper, don’t ask me why.

  • I keep thinking about all the knowledge on the forum over the years - especially the tester thread and DIY.

Is there a way of downloading and storing it somehow? I'd want to be able to search by user and keyword.

  • Great, I was planning on using contactless.

  • @Velocio said this

I am fine saying to the people on here that if you want to run a recursive wget, feel free to do so.

You should archive everything that hits https://www.lfgss.com and all files / attachments that come from https://lfgss.microcosm.app/ . The final archive will be somewhere between 1-2TB.

Actually, scratch this... I'll do it and will make a torrent available.

  • I used wget to pull text only. It took 5 hours and downloaded about 1gb.

  • Valerian grows exceptionally easily in the garden in the UK

You want that species not centranthus ruber (red valerian)

  • is this pricing likely realistic? I have and rarely wear this same t-shirt and would consider listing it on vinted if so.

    https://www.desertmossvintage.com/products/obey-dj-shadow-take-action-tee

  • Have you seen the prices on vintage rap tees?

  • No I'm new to it I'd listed 2x DJ Shadow & 2x Ninja Tune t-shirts at £5 each this afternoon and someone in Bristol bought all 4 almost immediately... thinking now I've under valued them? Searching for stuff didnt really give me owt close as comparison.

I have a Dj Shadow vs Obey Jacket too that I've barely worn and can't find it listed as existing let alone being sold 2nd hand. I remember it was small number release around similar time as Diminishing Returns 2xCD.

If I can get better value for shifting on some of this stuff it will help finances.

  • Maybe eBay would be better to get more money?

  • eBay fees are ridiculous now though no? tbh I'm not sure how much of my £20 earned I'll see from Vinted, or how they make their service profit. It was really simple to list the items compared to eBay also.

  • Private sellers don't pay fees on ebay anymore.

  • They're reintroducing them (but calling them "Buyer Fees") on 4th February.

  • I think I might have a few spares in a bag somewhere if you wanted me to have a look? Think I broke a faceplate on an x4 once and they came with the replacement, look to be the same? Would just need throwing in an envelope

  • Is there a word for;
harking back to, or evoking a past that may or may not have existed.
    An example of this could be;
It never rain(ed)in the summer holidays of my childhood

  • Selling is free for private sellers in the UK. Changed as vinted and depop were taking a big chuck out of eBay.

  • Not a single one, I don't think

I'd probably go for 'false nostalgia'
